I know someone that swears up and down that they were visited by aliens and that’s what he said they looked like. Giant mantises.

Yes, a cat-sized mantis would be highly dangerous to humans. With raptorial forearms designed for impaling and a razor-sharp mouth, it would easily overpower and consume us, much like a scaled-up leopard.

Scaling a mantis to the size of a 10-pound housecat shifts the dynamic of their natural behavior:

Lethal Grip: Their front legs are covered in sharp, spiked spines used to lock down prey. At this size, those spikes could effortlessly puncture human skin and break bones, pinning a human completely helpless.
