My friend wants me to build him a high end pc for around $800-1000. He said he mostly wants to play Skyrim with mods and be able to play every game on ultra.
I was deciding on the 770 or R9 290. I've chosen the 290 for now but since prices for parts always go up and down things can change. I just need help finding the
proper case and PSU. I wasn't sure if n I5 was necessary for him or not since he's not that much of a gamer he just wants to have the luxury of playing games on Ultra.
PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks
CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($219.99 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: ASRock Z77 Extreme4 ATX LGA1155 Motherboard ($133.98 @ SuperBiiz)
Memory: A-Data XPG V1.0 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($68.99 @ Amazon)
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($87.99 @ Best Buy)
Video Card: HIS Radeon R9 290 4GB IceQ X Video Card ($379.99 @ Newegg)
Power Supply: Rosewill Hive 650W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply ($74.99 @ Amazon)
Optical Drive: Samsung SH-224DB/BEBE DVD/CD Writer ($16.98 @ OutletPC)
Total: $982.91
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

what size/kind of sub enclosure are you building did you post drivers specs? what are you using for an amp? i built a 300L+ tempest sub a long time ago with a 200watt plate amp, it worked quite well , i had to build another enclosure as the waterheater build didn't go over so well on the looks department.
I'm making a 22" sealed cube so the final inner volume should be slightly over 4.5 ft^3. I bought a 300W RMS BASH plate amp for it that also arrived yesterday but I'm gonna return it and dish out a little more for the inuke 3000dsp ( http://www.parts-express.com/behring...-dsp--248-6706 ). I'm just going with MDF for the box
Edit: I have no idea how I managed to have 115 posts in the last thread lol

if he's not overclocking (assuming he's not very tech savy?) why even get a k-cpu? Otherwise be aware that this month the i5-4690k is launching which should be a much better overclocker than the i5-4670k (improved thermal design) at roughly the same price.

Is there some sort of way to buy all the parts you selected at one time on pc parts picker?

I must admit, it's a really nice tool though. Shaved a lot of money off my build (If I come up with the funds for a new build.)
This is what I'm looking at if I do it.
