Health screwed by alcohol crew.
Resting heart rate was 90-95 when heavily drinking.
Stopped and within 2 weeks was in the 70's.
Back to drinking but going to stop for a few months starting next week.
BP also higher when boozing regularly.

Only two weeks of not drinking brought it down 20 bpm.
High heart rate isn't inherent "bad" if it's not being caused by a negative outside source. I was boozing every day and no cardio. If sober and more active it's the difference between 95 bpm or 65 bpm.

I bloatmaxxed from heavy drinking too over the last few years. 200 with abs to 270 powerlifter mode at 5'9". All that weight put on in barely over 14 months.
Put on a bunch of weight, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and high resting heart rate.
Scariest thing was that after eating (still sitting and not really moving) it would spike to 120 bpm for about 30 min.
On the road to recovery health wise as I type. Booze can be nice, but if you're going through some sh!t that demon will sneak up on you and take you for a fcking ride.

Congrats brah. We’re all gonna make it, and it only gets better from there.
Had similar drinking habits, about a handle and change every two days. Went from a 405 lb bench press and an elite rugby player to being so shaky, dehydrated, malnourished, I could barely bench 135 lbs for a rep.
Your skin, teeth, gums, everything gets healthier. And phuck the damage to your heart is crazy. I got relatively lucky that I never had any serious long term effects and liver values returned to normal fairly quickly although were never that substantially elevated.
Keep it up brah! And the benefits to your bank account are crazy. $20 a day on booze and related garbage I wouldn’t do/buy/eat is $7,300 per year, srs.
I looked 5-6 younger after a couple months in sobriety.
I highly recommend AA, no cult brah, but the odds of success are astronomically higher if you work AA, the steps, and get a sponsor. Odds of staying sober for another year if you spend a year in a program are over 50%, odds of staying sober the next year after 5 years in are over 90%.
Unfortunately I’ve never had an alcoholic friend that didn’t work AA that stayed sober. An ex-gf died directly as a result of alcohol complications at 30.
Personally experienced some fairly scary heart episodes while withdrawing and detoxing.

85 isn't even bad. it's when it's regularly over 100 when it's bad. obviously the closer you are to 60 it is ideal. when i drink tequila for some reason my heart rate goes over 100. regular alcohol it is around 80 range.
