Still agree with OP that most anime characters look caucasian and it's a well known fact that looking "white" is a beauty ideal all over the world (skinny noses, blue and green eyes, straight hair, blonde hair, whitening cream, eye surgery). The list goes on. No point in arguing this.

Tezuka himself said that he was inspired by the early works - 1940s - of Disney, notably Bambi and the Uncle Scrooge comics. Just because the characters dont have squinty eyes or whatnot does not make them Caucasian.

All Disney characters influenced him, not just the animals. Just look at Pinnochio for example, the humans and animals had all big eyes.

For starters he was rebutting the statement you made saying Disney characters were all white. He shut that argument down easily lmao... you were obviously wrong but instead of admitting that, you moved it to "Lol so Disney only drew animals?" Damn....


Either way, there's really no proof he can show you to convince you otherwise, your mind is made up. As he said, Tezuka was inspired by old Disney work - especially the eyes. I remember reading awhile back that he believed bigger eyes also made them more expressive. However to you it HAS to be because they love white people, anything else is pure cope.

If he was inspired by all Disney characters of the time, including animals, it most likely means he didn't create them because he wanted them to be more white. Anyway, it's clear anime characters look white and not asian. I understand you need to cope though.

People in the western world tend to be extremely ignorant about this, but most places in the world are still far more racist on the whole than western countries in their current state. Eastern Asian society can be extremely racist. For example, say two 9/10 Eastern Asian HHB's came to the US, one Chinese, and one Japanese. 75%+ of Americans would have no idea which one came from which country, and they would be viewed on a common level of attractiveness in the US. But back in China and Japan, people would absolutely know the differences based purely on looks and would tend to favor the one from their own country.

Light skin is considered more attractive in those countries. Hence why darker skinned Asians are considered lower on the social heirarachy than lighter skinned ones. Plus Japanese society became somewhat obsessed with American culture post WW2 due to American military occupatuon for years there, and it carries on to this day to an extent.

So all that said, it's no surpruse that they focus on glamorizing lighter skin and features that are closer to western ones than blatantly Asian features in their anime cartoons. Still though, you can tell features of characters on those shows that seem kinda Asian unless depicting a specifically white character. Part of it probably also has to do with wanting to appeal to western audieances as well as Asian ones so they can make a lot more money.
