While I've torrented hundreds of movies and tv shows, I know it's wrong and understand why it's illegal. It's really no different than walking into Walmart and shoplifting bluray disks.

Yes they want full control over every aspect of your life. The internet being a semi-wild and free environment for sharing and communicating has always annoyed every government. They will use fake morals and fronts to pass laws that in the end are just disguising what they want - full control, full censorship.

Artists even upload their material in full for free on youtube because you're going to make money regardless if your product/service is good. ENOUGH people will always choose to buy and I'd rather have a world of that + some pirates and have it be free then be told WHAT services+Product I can only tune into.

Good movies, good music, good creators, all of it ALWAYS makes good money. We don't need backdoor laws that once in will start regulating everything you can do. Most free market libertarians at least don't agree with the notion that pirating is stealing. It is not possible to steal non-scarce information. Theft is physically taking property from someone and leaving that person without it.
