lol a lady just got 2 years for slamming into a child @ 100km/hr texting.

Let's give 10 years for streaming.

If you don't do something other than complain on the net then you have to accept full control and change. Fight now or forever be at the whim of this new world.

They want you to watch only Netflix-certified broadcasters.

While I've torrented hundreds of movies and tv shows, I know it's wrong and understand why it's illegal. It's really no different than walking into Walmart and shoplifting bluray disks.

Yes they want full control over every aspect of your life. The internet being a semi-wild and free environment for sharing and communicating has always annoyed every government. They will use fake morals and fronts to pass laws that in the end are just disguising what they want - full control, full censorship.

This is why I don't give a flying fuk if someone goes off on a racial rant or whatnot, at least I am seeing some honesty. Thoughts and feelings should never be a crime, only actions.

Artists even upload their material in full for free on youtube because you're going to make money regardless if your product/service is good. ENOUGH people will always choose to buy and I'd rather have a world of that + some pirates and have it be free then be told WHAT services+Product I can only tune into.

Good movies, good music, good creators, all of it ALWAYS makes good money. We don't need backdoor laws that once in will start regulating everything you can do. Nowhere else can people feel relatively free and anonymous, even that is being destroyed on the internet with now only a few sites being truly open.

I always laugh when I hear about some other law whether it's piracy, porn etc. They think everyone is some drooling fuking retard and that some people can't see the transparency in what they are doing.

Thankfully for now, you can block most of these laws in some countries. Oh and btw we all know what fuking retard side of politics is always behind intrusiveness and censorship. Bunch of bitch dolts.

Most free market libertarians at least don't agree with the notion that pirating is stealing. It is not possible to steal non-scarce information. Theft is physically taking property from someone and leaving that person without it.

I think if the original version can’t be replicated without significant time, unique talent or resources and you pirate it that is stealing.

Some movies have budgets of upwards of $300 million.

I understand what you're saying, but that's an emotional play and doesn't look at the reality of it. Duplicating 1s and 0s is literally not stealing. Taking a picture of a painting someone spent a lifetime creating and printing it out literally isn't stealing. It's actually the exact opposite of stealing since you're creatingmoreof it. Back to movies, -- production companies are free to take measures that would prevent people from reproducing their work: only have showings in very secure areas, never release it digitally, etc.

ton of people still buy new movies from the chinese lady. and they are ultimately loosing money.. when the movie doesn't gross. less investors next time and ect.. how cucking stupid are some of you..

look at the gaming industry.. a lot of developers focus more on console.. cause pirating is a **** load less common on consoles.

Yeah I guess it isn't theft.

Regardless I think its ridiculous to complain about paying for content seeing as how much these same people value that content.

Movie Piracy and Displaced Sales in Europe: Evidence from Six Countries

EU withheld a study that shows piracy doesn't hurt sales

Cliffs:
It concluded that one specific category, blockbuster movies, is negatively impacted by piracy, with ten downloads leading to about four fewer cinema visits. Overall, that reduced sales for certain films by about 4.4 percent on average
As for the other industries that rely on copyright (games, books and music), the study found "no robust statistical evidence of displacement of sales by online piracy." In the case of games, it concluded that unauthorized playing might actually make it more likely users will buy them
