Is soccer a talentless sport?

All you have to be able to do is have cardio endurance, other than that a 5 year old can kick a ball on the floor.

Football is incredibly skilled at the highest level, and because of its world wide appeal it also attracts some of the best talent.

and whoever is the best actor

nah srs tho, soccer is a hard sport. if it was as easy as you say, Americans would probably be the best since they tend to have the best athletes.

In the UK you have kids scouted out as early as 8 years old to go to club academies and training camps based on their talent and their knack for the game. Dribbling and kicking a soccer ball is harder than throwing a football or dribbling a basketball. Requires a good amount of footwork, skill and accuracy, plus add defenders on top of that and having the IQ to anticipate and make good reads and passes.

- brb american football all you need is to musclemax or runmaxx (or throw a football)
- brb basketball all you need to do is throw the ball into the hoop
- brb hockey just learn to skate and how to handle a stick

soccer at the highest levels absolutely takes a lot of skill, even the average starter player in say the EPL is really skilled.

To be fair juggling skills have no bearing on how well someone can actually play. 99% of soccer is basic ball movement/keep away and setup in front of the goal. There are guys who can do that juggling footwork bs all day long and still get absolute smoked on the pitch.

I had a friend from England in elementary school who was dead set on becoming a pro footballer in England. His dad was a coach and a soccer analyst on TSN when it first came out. He was ridiculously good and just light years ahead of every kid his age. He literally dedicated his entire life to getting better at soccer and from what I heard he only ever made it to the league that's still one or two levels below the EPL.

Soccer is the hardest sport because you play with your feet. You use your feet to run AND to kick the ball

You don't run with your hands op, so all other sports are easier (srs)

Playing hackysack with the ball = playing soccer? That atleast takes some skill, kicking a ball doesn’t.

I've always viewed team sports as a gigantic distraction to keep the pleb masses entertained while the elite run off to the bank and make all the money. It also really does bring out basic, defunct and obsolete evolutionary impulses in people, so at least it's entertaining and interesting to observe human behaviour from that angle. Imagine wanting to physically attack and cause harm to another human being because they support a different tribe than you - in 2021. Absolutely pathetic.

Go see a professional match in person if you can. You’ll see how fast-paced and aggressive it is. A lot of the famous players that dive do it because they normally get the roughest tackles for being big-names and having the best skill w/the ball (a lot of obvious exceptions).
Ever accidentally hit your shin on something while walking? Imagine that at high speed and force.
