Can you guys give me a formula to figure out fishing line?
Namely how much of 1 size line equals a certain length of another?

So 100 yards of 8lb mono takes up more spool than 100 yards of 10 lb braid
I believe 8lb mono is .25mm thick and 10lb braid is only .15mm.
That's a big difference.

this is like middle school math. assume the density is the same for both.
look up equation for volume of a cylinder.
for braid just use the diameter they give you

I used to lose about 100-150 feet per 10 pound increase in line strength on a Penn long beach 60. I was never running anything below 20 pound test though

But in April I want to put 100yds of 10lb braid on my spinning reels. So I am trying to figure out how much mono to strip and leave it as backing that way I can get 3 reels done with 1 spool.

So how much would I need to strip to put 100yds of .15mm braid?
75 yards 80 yards? 62yrds?
You are all stem guys and engineers what's the answer?
