This part of Breaking Bad I never understood.
The To'hajilee scene where Hank and Jessie finally get Walt.
I don't understand how they were able to arrest Walt. All that Walt really did was jump in his car and speed out into the desert. Sure, he did that because he was scared of losing his money, but he got tricked by the fake they made.
Hank had no tangible evidence connecting him to the meth operation, no tangible evidence the money even existed--even though he was in the right spot--and only Jesse's word that all of this existed. And even if they did find the money, is it even a crime to have a Scrooge McDuck pile of cash? I wasn't aware it was a crime to have a lot of money and nothing connects it to the meth operation.
The only possible reason I can think that gave Hank grounds to arrest Walt was his mention on the phone that he ran over drug dealers and killed Crazy 8. Thoughts?

haven't re-watched in a couple years but is this actual tangible evidence or just a dramatic scene for the viewers?

It's not a crime to have a lot of money. I just don't see a justification for arresting Walt.

Jesse's story directly contradicts Walt's bs story in the DVD he made to blackmail Hank. At that point it was only Jesse's word against Walt's, but finding Walt's millions and Hank's partner Steve Gomez witnessing all of that unfold (Walt leading them to his stash) was pretty damning evidence that Walt's "confession" was a lie and that Jesse's confession was the legitimate one.

Yeah so he saw the WW in gales book and then saw it in walts book along with GB. There was also that poverty sketch of heisenberg. Jesse faking hanks wife was in the hospital. Along with Walt acting weird the entire show. There was also that realization when Walt caused that car accident.haven't re-watched in a couple years but is this actual tangible evidence or just a dramatic scene for the viewers?

Man, I love BB. I think with these shows, sometimes you just have to take it at face value to enjoy it. I'm sure a lot of the evidence stacked against Walt wouldn't be admissible in a real court, but if we're talking real life.. Hank was a good detective when it came down to it. I'm sure if he kept digging, he would've found evidence somehow whether it be through Skylar or Jesse. Walt was just incredibly (and conveniently) lucky throughout this entire show.
If we're talking plot holes though.. Dexter New Blood... I never had so much love for a series before only for it to be ruined in one single episode (the finale).

I'll admit I wanted Walt to get away too. Why I analyzed this so much.

I have been arrested for:
1) mentioning to my counselor that I planned on buying a pot to cook beans in (they said pot was drug related, they took what I said completely out of context.)
2) saying I needed to drink water after eating when my counselor wanted to take me somewhere (they claimed I was talking about alcohol, completely out of context)
3) walking down a Main Street eating cheese that someone gave me, the cops said they thought it was stolen.

You can get arrested for anything, anytime by the police and it’s up to the court system to sort it out.

all that training cops go under gives them pretty good advantage in the court of law
all court is is compiling evidence to make a narrative more believable. that's it. it doesn't mean 100% guilty. most of the time the aim is to get the defendant to admit guilt. after that is reasonable doubt
i think the typical picture of court painted is one of "justice", but in reality it's not that at all. it's about crafting and framing a narrative [true or false], which gives way to so much bullchit

And the scene in question was a massive turning point in how the entire show unfolded from there on in. I don't take discrepancies like that lightly.

Sure it's enough to arrest him on. There's nothing wrong with the scenes in that regard. A DEA ASAC can certainly make an arrest off of the text convo between Walt/Hank alone. Suspected Drug Dealer tricked into leading them to barrels of cash. Almost likely enough for a judge to sign a search warrant too.
Now add in the fact that they also had Walts Accomplice giving a full confession and it's likely they'd have no problem getting an indictment, as well.
Now was there enough evidence to hold or convict him based off of that text convo? Almost certainly not if Walt had a good lawyer, but it'd come down to how much of Jesse's testimony was allowed/believed etc.
But we never got to find out.
