I played it when it came out. I beat the main game (not dlc). Tried to go back and do another play through and didn’t like it at all for some reason. Like every other AC it’s really repetitive.

It's crap

The first 10 hours or so are good, but then it gets really repetitive, the story goes nowhere, the characters are horrible, sidequests are non-existent.

glad you are liking (watching) it.

seems kind of bloated to me. I heard Origins is the best in the new trilogy. Will probably give that a try soon.

I like the combat in Valhalla more than Odyssey (enemies seem less spongy) but the exploration in Odyssey was more fun because of the vibrant Mediterranean scenery. In Valhalla its mostly drab forests and snowy areas.

It is, by a long shot. It's the only one I'd describe as "great". Odyssey and Valhalla are both trash, unfortunately. I had high hopes for this new style of AC. :/

Odyssey was breath taking

LOVED exploring the game and seeing the temples and cities. Getting on top of a mountain and seeing the nearby islands

I'm a fan of classical history and the game was just amazing for the exploration alone

This, the beginning is a massive bait and switch.

Norway is awesome but then you sail off to England and after that is just an absolutely ungodly amount of padded bullchit among drab landscapes with a revolving door of mostly forgettable one off characters. Don't know how they did it, but it is a massive step back in all regards compared to Odyssey. And it simply refuses to end. I reached my breaking point after the first Asgard segment - found out there's another one - and rescuing a certain dikhead from captivity. Seriously, why is everyone a dik to Eivor?

Combat is crap, Zealots and some bosses are fuking annoying, raven is now useless, parkour felt more chitty, the retard who came up with the flying papers should be tarred and feathered.

Orlog and flyting were cool, though. Druid DLC was great besides the ending - also finally the areas were gorgeous - and Petra's quest was a riot.

That's true. Eivor gets treated like chit, but I think it's because he's so nice to people. I can relate.

Question:

Why are most games like this using swords instead of modern or future settings using guns?

I would like a similar big world type of game using guns. I played a Tom Clancy game about South America that was like that and loved it.

However, I do not like using swords in these games because it's something I can set up and there isn't as much skill as shooting. It seems like for years there's all of these games set in ancient times and almost none in the future and few in the present.

Why do you think that is?

Really?

I hate ancient times and fantasy stories because most of it didn't happen, was horrible to live in, and magic and so on never happened and is not real.

In ancient times, you would have been toothless by 30 and have ten different diseases and your education would be that you know how to talk, lol.

Magic in these stories is about wanting to have cool events happen that never did and couldn't happen, so that's kind of sad.

Meanwhile, with some science fiction, maybe it could happen, but with magic and stuff, it never will.

Everyone can enjoy what they want but when I was younger people liked science fiction and thought fantasy was dumb. Now, you can barely find any science fiction or even modern games like I've said.

So when did the "industry" ask you what kind of game you like?

Instead, you will buy what's out and looks good, no one is asking you.

Swords have no control and take no planning or skill to use so I get very bored with that type of combat.

I think the industry is pushing the setting too much.

Meanwhile, most movies are not set in ancient times and when they are they don't do well. Military, crime, and science fiction movies do the best, so I don't get why games are fantasy oriented now.

When I was younger they were SF or military.
