Holy crap Subnautica rules

Pretty sure I’m the last person on earth to play this game but this is simultaneously the most terrifying and chill experience I’ve had in a LONG time.

Playing in the dark with a good pair of headphones is absolutely incredible. The sound of the ocean surrounding you is so unsettling.

You bros like this game?

Amazing game, never finished it lmao but I loved every minute of it.

Probably one of the few games that got underwater right ... It really captured the feeling of diving and how smooth/weightless you are underwater. Especially when you head into the deep ocean, the visibility, blue everywhere and that disorienting feeling is done so well.

Omg I can’t imagine this in VR. Gotta look into that.

Survival game where you’re crashed on an alien planet that is nothing but water in every direction. Harvest plants, fish minerals and your fancy sci-fi escape pod can synthesize food, drinking water, equipment.

I don’t like survival games but this one absolutely clicks. Because you have all these sci fi tools the crafting/progression curve is not grindy at all. Like you’ll have built a scuba rig within the first 30 minutes.

When you’re swimming thru the depths in absolute darkness, hearing massive things moving around you? SHEESH.

When you dive deep to investigate a downed escape pod and the light slowly leaches until you’re just down there in the dark is genuinely terrifying. Then that frantic ascent to the surface, slowly seeing the light start to build. Like I said, the game is this crazy mix of terrifying and chill.

And yeah, most games swimming kind of sucks. Describing a game as one big water level sounds like it’s going to blow lol. But it’s so fluid and smooth to move anywhere and everywhere.

Also dont forget to check out the expansion, Subnautica Beyond Zero or below zero. I heard it's pretty decent as well, although maaaybe not as great as the base game, but apparently it improves on a couple things. I was watching cohh's playthrough and it looked pretty cool, but yeah, it didnt seem to have much of the magic and exploration aspect of the base game, but still probably worth checking out once you're done with the main game.

Really hope the dev's work on a bigger sequel though, would love to see better graphics, more detail and density into the ocean environment and wider range of aquatic wildlife.

If they add in a multiplayer mode too hoooly fuk, I know I can convince my cousin to get it day one since we're both divers so taking our irl diving shenanigans into a game would be amazing.
