When she wrote "why is it fun texting me?" she was looking for compliments and you completely dropped the ball getting all defensive. The correct response was something like "because you're very funny and you're not afraid to speak your mind" or something like that.

This will happen a lot, if you tell her "I like that picture" she'll likely ask "really? what do you like about it???" and you're meant to tell her how pretty her face is or whatever, DO NOT go with "well what's wrong with me liking a picture??? ARE YOU QUESTIONING MY TASTE???"...
