You have to enjoy it, and make it part of your routine. However, there's no point trying to force yourself to read a book a week if you're getting 0 enjoyment from it. I've averaged about 2 a week this year with little effort, because i've read stuff i enjoy reading (i.e philosophy, history etc)

It could be a book in 1 months, the idea of the tight deadline is so it replaces bad habits.

You have to really enjoy reading. My wife does more than that. She'll run through a thick book in a few days and then run through my thick cawk in a few minutes (nomsayin?)

I began playing video games in the later evening with my incredibly limited free time. Reading is a nice idea but I prefer games now. Whatever your preference is, really lean into it and enjoy yourself. I used to watch TV shows but I haven't done that in years.

I read just under a book a week, as in, sometimes I'm not successful in getting a book read in the week. I read long books on complex subjects though.

You need to be passionate about the subject. Trying to force yourself to read won't do you any favours. What are you passionate about?
Back off, Warchild.

Seriously.

Hardly comparable, broyo. Reading books is for educational purposes, not entertainment.

Why can't it be both?

If you find it hard to read past 15 minutes, stop at 15 minutes. The important part is to try and do it everyday until it becomes a habit.

Start with a fiction book that piques your interest, preferably something easy to read.

Really depends what you read, doesn't it? It's also important to learn to wind down and consume things purely for entertainment purposes to rest the mind. If your brain is always in learning mode, you can burnout from that.

I got bathroom book collection of weird facts, italian/French to English visual encyclopedias, etc. This habit is a gamechanger. somehow it wires your brain for additional reading throughout the day.

Actually, my phone facilitates massive amounts of reading for me. It's like having a little library in your pocket. I couldn't do anywhere near the amount of reading I do without it.
