How many friends do you have?
Whether they're single or in a relationship? People who somewhat care about you and hit you up somewhat occasionally to chill or whatever.
My friend circle took a nosedive after high school. Some married, relationships, moved, etc.
After people find love they become a bit more distant (understandable, trying to build a family, i guess)
My mates from college vanished and I ceased making effort to meet new folks.

After high school was finishing up, I'd have told you I had maybe 5 or so friends. Now it's 2 or 3 from a combination of people drifting away and passing away. I don't even know how people make friends anymore past age 30 or so unless they just get them from work.

Depends on your definition of friends... I have many acquaintances, and some close friends but i have about 5 ride or die, pick the phone up at any hour of the night types, which i consider true friends. If you have at least 2-3 of those by your mid 30's, i think you have done something right.

I have a rather large circle of 'casual friends'. But no real 'best' friends anymore.
With that said. For some strange reason people like me. I can make friends fast. I know almost too many people. Too many to pursue them all as 'close' friendships.
My best friends I grew up with got married young. Moved to different cities. Had 2-3 kid each. Started their family lives early 20s. Now in our mid 30s they are super focused on work/homelife/wives/kids. I know I could run across those guys and rekindle our friendship in seconds. Even if we haven't talked in a year or two. And ultimately I wish we could have what we had in our teens/early 20s. But they are so busy with their families they don't have the time.
My girlfriend has had the same core friend group of 3 people since she was a child. Literally text each other good morning every morning. Chat/facetime daily. Etc. Still get together at least once a month or so for dinner or lunch. Still go see them every single Christmas after leaving families house... That kind of connection is super rare. In many ways they are closer then family. Gotta mire a 25+ year friendship group man.
With that said even if 6 months goes by and I don't speak someone next time we see each other nothing has changed. Its just like we've been hanging out every single day.

My friend circle is big. And it's how I live. I also tell people, "I am fully retired, but semi-homeless". I really don't have a residential address, just a mailing address.
I always have food in my belly, a warm bed to sleep on, and a roof over my head for shelter. Sometimes is a different bed or roof by the week, but I am blessed.
Recent video of me and my friends whom I love and love me. And it's not even all of them.

Hmm maybe like 5 close that I regularly talk to. We only hang out when we can though which isn't too often anymore (moving, marriage, kids, etc).
But I also have an alumni chat with like 100 guys that talk daily on there about soccer or ****posting. We go to the college games and pregame in the parking lot before just to chat and talk ****. Oddly this fell apart from like 2016-2022is but started up again and it's more connected than ever.
I also have a lot of random acquaintances/friends from college or growing up that I'll randomly see or talk to and have used for help on stuff. The older you get the more you realize you should have a very small core group friends that are close (even lik2 1-3 is all you need), but then have a wide range of sort friends/acquaintances for creating a network. Have car problems? I know a guy that won't fuk me over. Need a plumber? I know a guy. But that also comes with being there for them if they need help.

I have my BFF since we were 13. We don't see each other often because we're both busy with our families and life, but we always know that we are there for each other and can pick up after months and it's like we are 13 again. I have another friend from way back then that I talk to less often but again we can pick up the same way. I have a small friend group that we see each other every couple months throughout the year for parties/BBQ's or a girls weekend at the beach. Then there's the way more casual friends like my one friend whose son was friends with mine since kindergarten or my couple work daughters where we'll go out to lunch or dinner or out dancing every once in a while.
