Go with a wider grip until you can do it. Then repeat and go narrower as it gets easier.

Just tried with a broom stick. You are right had to go wide.

Shoulder dislocates. I do them with a band instead of a broom stick.

yeah no way I could do that with a bar. I would be curious if any human could do that without them needing to spread their arms out as they rotate backwards.

I do it all the time. Very easy stretch. Widen your grip. It helps.
