Thanks man. This is actually old hardware. My Linux rig doesn't need crazy specs. Just a Ryzen 3800X and a GTX 1050. Board is a Crosshair VII though.

I'm in the process of upgrading my windows machine to a Ryzen 7950X and RTX 3060 Ti.

Fast-removal hard drives for when the fed swat team storms the house. Just pull them out and throw in the microwave. You don't want to know what is on them.

air cooling? you may as well shrink that thing to a sffpc. no point in having such a big rig unless you're having a custom loop.

Local media library. A single 4K HDR remux rip of a blu ray clocks in around 80-120GB. I’m assuming this dude is a big nerd too with that username so virtual machines, ISO files, probably has a local backup of important photos and docs.

Then just assume he’s running a backup of everything so really it’s 23TB of storage mirrored.

With 2 drive fault tolerance no less.

Dude is storing some valuable information on those drives. Probably this:

RAID6 essentially wastes 2 disks, so it’s actually 28TB of usable storage. The other 28TB is used for redundancy.
