Why is child labor allowed on farms in the US?
Money is why it is legal, I mean what kind of man and woman could look at themselves in the face knowing they have destroyed their child’s lives?
How could a parent put a young teen in those conditions at all let alone for that long every day?
Like I am five and have an extra chromosome please.
I mean a real ****ing piece of **** right?

The Austrians make a good case for this.
1. Who are YOU to decide that they shouldn’t? Is it better for the child not to work if it means no food on the table? Not everyone makes enough money to be able to afford the children not working. Is it better to have children starve? For a family to lose their children because they can’t provide?
2. They are learning a trade that can better the child and the country.
3. You cannot know the needs and wants of the individual. Every family and individual is in a unique situation that cannot be judged based on a lack of information. By preventing the child from working, it is likely to cause more harm to that child and family than good.
Of course, that’s the entire problem with socialism. An arbitrary regulation, law, or control without knowing and understanding each individual.

Yeah it’s bullchit
Labor laws for kids should be the same across industries
Growing up on a farm was great but it was a family side project with my mom and me and my sister so just cleaning chicken coop, selling eggs, selling pumpkins, raising rabbits/quail, stuff like that. That kind of an experience is great, but having 12 year olds pulling long shifts wageslaving in a monstrous field and a massive operation with never ending work is pretty fuked. Especially cuz probably forced into doing it.

Us labor laws have exemption for farm work for 12 year olds, let 16 year olds operate heavy machinery and go on roofs with no safety required.

In recent years it hasn’t been as much of an issue, but according to you, poor people shouldn’t have kids at all. Erm, that’s getting pretty close to being a dangerous ideology, like eugenics.
You’re making the assumption that work messes kids up. What evidence do you have to support this?

They just need to bring things in line with current child labor laws, if you want to make an argument for lowering it that’s fine, but I think current welfare program could instead change to incentivizing and rewarding good grades and school attendance with stricter expectations at school for kids under 14 and let family’s that can’t raise productive children fend for themselves then crackdown on crime and yes society would be much better.

I am def not for more regulations/socialist policies. It’s a recipe for disaster.

I'm PRO child labor, in many cases its the best option for the child and family. …IMO child labor laws are to force poor kids into worthless schools for indoctrination.
Kids gonna learn a lot more in the actual workforce that matters then they will in todays ****ty schools.
Child Labor is a good thing
