HOA tells women she needs to walk dog next to gator infested lake, gets eaten

Cliffs
Lady (85) has a little dog
HOA has a policy you cant walk your dog on the street or in the front of your house (lol)
They fined her and gave her an eviction warning
They made her walk next to the gator pond
She gets eaten, alive, by a gator

Imagine living eighty five years just to have your last moments on earth being in the mouth of alligator while being dragged into a pond. Damn.

Jesus Christ. I've lived around tons of gators my whole life and never known them to kill or even severely injure anyone. Florida gators must be built different

If that was my grandma I'm not sure there would be HOA left after I was done. Wouldn't even have a problem with the jail time afterwards.

Owning and living in a HOA or Strata controlled area is worse than being a rentcel to be honest.

Gators are fine in the wild. I've never had one fail to vacate when I got anywhere close to it. The ones like this one get too used to people and lose their fear. People were most likely feeding it as well. There's a state park near Houston (Bayou Bend) that has a bunch of gators. You can practically get between a mother and her babies and mom is completely unconcerned.

Why did she go right up to the water when she knew there were gators in there? Why not hang back 30 yards at least?

But yes, HOA's are beyond cucked. Can't imagine why anyone would ever voluntarily sign up to live somewhere that had an HOA.

Whoever implemented the rule and then hit the old lady with a violation and threatened to evict her is probably realizing how completely fuked they are right now, as well as the HOA leadership. They are going to get sued so far into debt they won't be able to dig their way out without bankruptcy.

They have the darwin award for when you die doing something really stupid.

They need a 'Florida award' for when its not necessarily stupid, but you underestimated nature and it took you!

I feel badly for the lady obviously. Wish the HOA didn't have the rule. I guess some people were not picking up their dog poop I'm guessing. The lady should have been taking her dog to a dog park to walk and run around. You don't walk near a pond here in Florida. That is inviting trouble.

The river I grew up on was infested with gators and like you said they were really skittish around people and would stay away

i've seen where there is federal legislation being worked on to reign in HOA's.
they have started to get ridiculous and have the power to take to home if your dog chits in the front yard to many times for example.

need laws for HOA

it turned from "keep the yard nice, no trash on the floor" to implementing how someone can actually live inside their home, yea not even just outside

HOAs are always lead by hall monitor types that get off on telling people what to do. Usually led by morons.

May be lucrative for the lawyers, but time consuming and expensive for the family.
As others have suggested, feeding the HOA to the gators seems the logical choice.

it's not like granny could back flip to safety.
