Didn't mind thst job when I was sixteen, hated bagging groceries. Also, you were less likely to deal with a "secret shopper."

You're competing against every person with a drivers license in a race to the bottom.
After gas and depreciation on your vehicle you're making next to nothing.
Never done it though so maybe they make good money (but I doubt it).

I used to do that at Costco and got paid around 29/hr with amazing benefits and vacation. But I worked there a long time and demoted myself from manager for the last few years I worked there so I could coast while I finished school and got out of there.
It just depended on the general manager. For a long time I had one who was cool and let me rock headphones. By the time I quit the new general manager was a real dickwad and cracked down on all the benefits of being a cart guy, extra breaks, headphones, etc.
It was chill af but don't be fooled, it was hard work. Summers were absolutely brutal as fuk. Carts are heavy, an 8 hour shift was like 30k steps while pushing heavy carts all day. I'd go thru shoes every 6 weeks because I'd just walk holes in them and in the summer they'd nearly melt

When I was working at the Commissary Navy base grocery store, they had the cart pusher also use the leaf blower to clean up the parking lot and everyone would want to do it but they called it the blow job

Lol my grandad was a cart pusher and he made friends with some guy when I was a kid, I used to talk to him and something seemed off about him but I never really knew what. When I was in my teens I moved back to the area and met him still doing it and asked him why he always seemed off. Turns out he'd either be stoned, on shrooms or a small dose of lsd. He'd just put headphones in under his beanie and float through the day. I was fully myrin hard.
