LOL @ Roman’s flop trying to cut a promo on SD

WWE is really digging themselves a hole letting Roman do all the talking. Funny how the 2 guys having a match are least intriguing on the mic. Having the face to face was a good idea because there was so much emphasis with the Rock, but WWE needs to let Heyman and Rock be Roman’s mouthpiece. As the weeks go on the Roman vs Cody match is losing more and more interest. Roman is not helping himself. Come to think of it Rollins was just as bad. Funny how all 3 guys from the Shield are the worst 3 mic guys in the business.

Last year I was crazy hyped for Roman/Cody and now the match feels like a Triple H vs Randy Orton fued, boring

Got to give WWE credit for their ability to mask a turd these last several years and finally get Roman “looking strong”. Regardless of being a subpar promo and putting together a catalog of forgettable matches with predictable finishes. It took Paul Heyman, a guy who isn’t even a real bloodline member in Zayn being the hottest thing going, various internal Bloodline storyline conflicts, and every other bell and whistle to do it..but they did it.

Now they think they can just plug Rock in to carry the weight and not have everyone see Roman as “less than”. Roman looks like the doofus little cousin on the side and not the top guy they’ve spent the last X amount of years trying to sell us on. The build feels like it’s Cody vs. Rock and not Cody vs. Roman. It’s been a mix of limp dick Cody sob promos, Seth being the gay best friend, Rock cutting a mix of cool heel promos and face lines (Memphis) when convenient, and given more creative freedom. It’s just not really serving the story, match or all participants involved as well as it could.

it's a big ask to dial this thing back up sunday night after the tag match saturday. everyone's coming to mania to see dwayne. as we speak, that match sunday night will not have nearly the buzz it did at WM39

i don't know who's fault that is, or if it's really just a compliment to The Rock who came in here and blew away everybody else despite being 50 years old.

I don't see the appeal, what is it about him? The Undertaker also could not talk but he made up for that flaw in spades in every other aspect of wrestling (appearance, ability, backstage clout, presence, etc)… Roman is… above average size, good but not great build, an okay but not spectacular worker, … ??

Roman has charisma no doubt and an important part of a wrestling character. But not much else. No character depth. Just living off a catch phrase and a forced push down our throats the last 4 years. Fluff.

he's garbage. anyone who says different is a shill, a giant mark or has gotten too used to the current product.

ask yourself where he'd be in the golden era, the attitude era or even when the territories were a thing.

Maybe it was AEW, but I got the impression while he was there that he couldn't wait to get out of wrestling. Which, maybe I mistook and he just wanted out to WWE…

if you cared about actual wrestling, the way it is supposed to be presented, would you want to be in AEW?

It's the story around him that makes it, but Roman pulls off the whole smug douche Tribal Chief character sooo well. Also consider that Roman and Heyman and the Bloodline storyline have made Jey and Jimmy actual characters. Before that I couldn't even tell them apart and they didn't have separate characters. Now they have unique traits and motivations, and I'm invested in both of them. To be fair Jimmy's arc doesn't really make sense at all, but still. Sami benefited from the Bloodline gimmick too. He was floundering in that conspiracy theorist gimmick that was probably a low point in his career. Then he played into that whole just wanting to belong to something attitude and glommed onto the Bloodline. And not to be unfair to Sami, as a character he enriched the Bloodline storyline and made it better. They both needed each other at that point IMO. It showed how paranoid and oppressive Roman could be, and it also got Sami over AF.

i agree with this and i've enjoyed Roman as the top dog heel. it's worked wonders for business whether anyone wants to give him any credit for it or not.

however, in this particular moment, WWE has a bit of an issue on their hands because Dwayne has completely eclipsed him in this feud. I don't know how I'd run that match Sunday night but it better have a lot going on. It's going to be very tough to follow the tag match Saturday because Roman (and Seth and even Cody) have all taken a back seat to The Final Boss
