NY passes law preventing minors from buying bodybuilding supplements

Minors will no longer be able to buy diet pills or supplements intended for muscle building or weight loss when a new state law takes effect Monday.

The legislation, which is intended to help prevent eating disorders, bans the sale of over-the-counter dietary supplements to people under age 18, though it includes exemptions for some protein powders, protein drinks and foods.

“This bill is an important measure in combating diet culture and ensuring the safety of young consumers,” Assemblymember Nily Rozic, one of the bill’s sponsors, said in a press release. Gov. Kathy Hochul signed the act into law in October.



But no safety issues prescribing puberty blockers and hormones for transitioning kids.

When you are growing you should not be taking supplements anyways

Parents should be doing that not the government. Just more of bug brother thinking he knows what's best for the people .

I agree they shouldn't be used if you are a kid but passing a law for it is ridiculous. Probably shouldn't be out on the sun for 8 hrs a day without sun block does that mean a law should be passed if you don't wear sun block you go to jail or get fined?

NY is great at passing laws, and LEOs used to even enforce them back in the day. DA’s, however, were instructed not to prosecute most things, so you have nothing to worry about. This won’t stop any minors from buying anything.

Don’t forget Meso Tech and Hydroxycut. MuscleTech was the big boy back in the day. Back when the FDA didn’t control any supplements. You could literally buy steroids at GNC I still remember the days when Ultimate Orange was the only preworkout on the market.

Hydroxycut Hardcore - now they sell that chit in my.local supermarket lmao

About 3 years ago the local supplement store where I lived was selling SARMs over the counter and booking it into the sales system as 24 packs of C4 energy drink - the owner was quite happy to sell steroids out the back of his shop too once he knew you were legit, nice little side hustle lulz
