Mai Shiranui has always been seen as SNK's sex symbol…or has she?

1) The guy she's in love with, Andy, doesn't like her back. He just find her annoying.

2) She's a parody of a kunoichi. A kunoichi is a female ninja who used her sexuality to approach her victims before she could kill them.

3) The parody is her clothes which are extremely skimpy, instead of just sexy. Her boobs which are huge instead of just big. And her ass which is flabby instead of just curvy. Everything about Mai is based on sex appeal, but the sex appeal in exaggerated and that's why she's a parody.

4) A few characters in SNK's games makes fun of either her skimpy clothing or her unfit body. You don't make fun of serious characters, but you make fun of parodies.

5) When Japanese fans votes for their favourite SNK characters (or KoF characters), Mai never wins. She's more seen as vulgar and exaggerated than cute or sexy.

Because the world today is a parody of itself, people probably see Mai as pretty normal. But she really is a parody character ala Dan Hibiki. For example, so many people today are overweight or fat, so to them Mai looks skinny. But compare Mai's body to Yuri's, who's actually fit, and she looks completely out of shape.
