The income to cost of living ratio in big cities is atrocious

There's a huge myth among a lot of people who think that if you live in a big city, you automatically make 300k a year

In reality, big cities have a slightly higher avg income compared to suburbs and medium size cities while everything costs two or three times as much

The vast majority of people in big cities are broke. You have to make 400k to have a high quality of lifestyle in places like NYC and only maybe 2-4% of people make that much

Honestly someone making 80k in suburbs is living a better lifestyle than someone making 150k in NYC and the percentage of people making 80k is way higher than those making 150k in NYC. 150k in NYC is probably top 15% of people

Where do you make 80k in the suburbs? It's all government and service-sector.
