I know a lot of fans were very bothered by this. I can't say it was something that really got to me. Clearly Ace was a villain. A terrible guy. He wasn't interested in acquiring the Yankees hat, he merely wanted to take it from Gordie. Just for fun. To have a good laugh. You even see that he hands it over to Eyeball afterwards. Ace didn't even want it. He simply wanted to take the hat from Gordie and he accomplished that goal. So having Gordie regain possession would've been a bit meaningless in my view.

And by the end of the film, Gordie had already stood up to Ace. Gordie fulfilled his purpose. Getting the hat back just wouldn't have meant much of anything at that point. Plus, there was really nowhere it could've been inserted into the movie and not felt out of place. You boys know what I mean? The Yankees hat became increasingly insignificant as the film went on. Really, the only proper time for Gordie to get his cap back would've been right after it was taken, and doing this would've greatly diminished the audience's perception of Ace Merrill as a villain. So it wouldn't have made much sense to have it happen there. But what's you guyses opinion on this? Should Gordie have gotten his hat back? Was it something that bothered you?

What I always wondered was how the dead kid got hit by a train just walking along the tracks. Like, wouldn't you hear that coming? It wasn't like they had headphones in back then.

I guess, the truth is that people did indeed get hit by trains back then. It happened. No earbuds or anything. I don't exactly know how or why, but it still took place.Absolutely. They did such a great job with the score & soundtrack. Its my all-time favorite movie. Hands down.

I'm more interested in the adventures of Vern. I assume after his parents finally died he inherited the house and bulldozed it so he could fully dig up the yard and find his jar of pennies. ZERO closure on that mystery!

If I was the same age as the younger kids, I would’ve been scared of Ace, but when I got older, I thought he was kind of cool. He was dangerous, though.

I even love Dreyfus as the narrator or "The Voice". A podcast I listen to..best one out there called, Quite Frankly, does a segment once a year called 'The Deer Scene" in which listeners call or write in with their Deer scene similar to the movie scene where the world just stopped and you lived in a moment where everything seemed symbiotic and harmonious or just seem to stop in time and was special to you unlike those around you.
