Are Indians really taking over Canada?
Randomly started reading r/Canada and there's a lot of complaints of incoming Indians.
Is it that bad over there? Why is Canada allowing so many Indians? And a lot aren't even skilled respectful workers, they come through fake schools with fake degrees. Seems the whole country is being taken over and I feel bad for the natives

In the GTA it certainly feels like it, especially certain areas, like Brampton.
Brampton feels like it's 90% Indian.
Most of them are genuinely nice people. But it's still weird the cultural shift from when I was young.

I’m an American but I’ve been to Canada about 2 dozen times throughout my life because when I was very young my grandmother lived in Toronto (she remarried to a Canadian man in her 60s) and I continued to visit after she left because it’s close by and I just enjoy the city. I’ve watched Southern Ontario dramatically change in a VERY short amount of time.
The amount of Indian immigration to Canada over the last ten years alone is absolutely insane. Honestly they’re nice people, but it’s created this weird dynamic where instead of assimilating, some of the immigrants refuse to associate with English speaking Canadians. Obviously don’t know because I’ve never lived there but some have told me they get discriminated against in the workplace by Indian bosses who will only hire other Indians and favor their caste.
What I noticed firsthand was a strange communication problem. Last time I was in Toronto I couldn’t find a single hotel in the city with a native English speaker. Everyone was either Indian or Asian and the language barrier caused confusion. I kept calling around different hotels looking for specific amenities and nobody could help me. They just read off a script like robots. No nuance in the conversation whatsoever. I had to drive out to fkin Oakville, ON to find, funny enough, an Indian brah who was born and raised in Canada who could help me.
It’s also a fascinating contrast when you cross the border from Niagara Falls, ON to Niagara Falls, NY.
On the Canadian side, all of the attractions are run by Indian immigrants. Like even at random Tim Hortons on the side of the highway.
Then once you get to the falls on the U.S. side it’s American born White and Black people with some Puerto Ricans in between. Our side is racially diverse, but it just feels more culturally in tune because at the end of the day we’re all Americans.
