As a single guy I don't understand the fascination on this forum about home ownership
>600 sq ft apartment
>Only ever use the 1 bedroom, bathroom, and kitchen
>Why would I need a 2,000 or greater sq ft house that has multiple other rooms?
>All that increased upkeep and also if there's a yard to maintain
I guess it's different if you have a family that would need those extra rooms that's why this question is for forever single guys like me

Agreed. I need no more than about 800 sq/ft. Maybe a balcony.
Would much rather have an 800sq/ft 10th floor condo that is really nice on the inside than anything else.

i had 630 sq ft and it was small as fuk.
900 is though (2 bedrooms) isnt as bad. biggest waste of space for a single guy is a dining room area and most apartments are configured that way.
3 bedrooms and a garage is the best though it does start to get too big for 1 person, as in you start to accumulate excess crap just because you now have room for it.
1 bedroom to sleep
1 bedroom for computer desk
1 bedroom with bench and powerblock weights
im going to move from 3 bedroom down to 2 bedroom. the land chad is cucking me hard raising my rent all the time. then i will have more money a month for hookers or investing

Well it's still generally good financially
If I was single I could live in a studio
But I need access to a back yard for chillin and grilling, just non negotiable at this point.

For me lived in an area where a one bedroom was more than a mortgage somewhere else so I figured may as well.

800 sqft is not even 75 square meters
I was joking about living in a cardboard box under the freeway but to be honest the cardboard box would be better, you would at least have a yard

Owning land is all that really matters. If you own the lot where your property is built then it's actually yours
Owning an apartment gives you a little space on someone else's land

I need the space:
-Drive way has my truck and girls SUV. Along with my work SUV.
-Master bedroom/bath with my bed/dresser/closet.
-Fully furnished guest bedroom up front. / second bathroom for guests
-Third bedroom which is a home office. Computer, TV bookshelves, put my guns/gun safe, a couch for relaxing, etc.
-Garage stores my 4-wheeler, motorcycle, kayak, snowboarding gear, diving gear, tools, hunting & fishing gear/equipment.
-Back patio contains a charcoal & gas grill. Table/countertop for out-door cooking/dining. Outdoor fire-pit. Etc.
-Boat parked on side yard.
Now that my girl moved in having 3 walk in closets are quite useful cause she has a lot of clothes, handbags & shoes. TBH we also have an entire dresser with the top drawers set up to store/display all her jewelry.
1585 square foot residence + a 2 car garage, barely enough space for the two of us. We are going to have to upgrade when we have kids. Especially considering I'll be picking up a second motorcycle and a second boat at some point. I'd like my next place to have a six car garage. 1 for my truck, 1 for her SUV, 1 space for 2 motorcycles, 2 spaces for my boats. 6th space because eventually we'd like to get a sports car for night/weekend cruising. Next house will likely have 3 or 4 bed 3 bath and a big office space. 6 car garage. Full outdoor kitchen/back patio for entertaining/seafood boils.
If things were to go bust with this chick I'd likely rent out this house and build out a warehouse style man-cave in the middle of the city I live in. Google image search luxury warehouse man cave for ideas. There are like 4 or 5 rich brahs in my city with warehouse man-caves where they park their super-cars and have a chill spot to hang with their friends and get away from their wives/kids. I'd also be happy living in something like that. Something like 2000 square foot of indoor warehouse to mod out. Just one bedroom/master bath inside and a guest bathroom as well. Then build a 800 square foot cabin in a rural area on a river/lake to get away from the city and chill when I want to.
Yes technically if I were a minimalist living in a small apartment I could invest more. Maybe retire a few years sooner. Maybe build a few more million net worth. Etc. But what's the point of having a good income/wealth/millions if I live like a pleb?

There is some truth to the OP.
When single, I lived in a tiny downtown apartment.
When my wife and I moved in together, we bought a house in the burbs.
When we were having a kid, we bought a bigger house, on a bigger piece of land, for our daughter to grow up in.

Screw nature; my body will do what I DAMN WELL tell it to do!
The only dangerous thing about an exercise is the person doing it.
They had the technology to rebuild me. They made me better, stronger, faster……

Because normal apartments fukin suck. If you’re ballin and live in an upscale apt with underground parking, rooftop bbq, gym/cafe, etc. it wouldn’t be bad though.
