how long did your shin splints take to heal?

My dumbass decided to suddenly start doing sprints on pavement. After day 3 my shins started to hurt if I ran at anything more than a jog. I have had them before but it's been a very long time. I really want to get back to doing sprints ASAP but trying to avoid setbacks. For the sake of improving my cardio I'm running at just below the pace where my shins start to hurt.

I'm asking here because I'm assuming there's a decent number of miscers that have experienced this and are/have strenuous workout routines.
