Brutal for men over 30 still living with roommates or parents (sad!)
I'm sorry but it’s embarassing and a big red flag for me if a man tells me he still has roommates and doesn’t live alone. if women who make much less than men on average unless they have their own way of making money can live alone in a high cost city or medium cost city and as a man YOU can’t?!? something is wrong with that picture. i also don’t want to go to a grown man’s house while someone else is in the home. to me that’s not a flex or attractive. if i could afford to live alone before my big win, than why can’t you as a grown man that’s 30 and above..? isn’t that just weird?

Yes! There’s a guy I work with who’s over 40 and has never lived alone. It just seems weird. And it makes me think you’re irresponsible.

It really does feel a lot better knowing that there are plenty of folks in their 30’s 40’s with roommates and it’s not frowned upon or a cause for concern.
And no doubt being trapped inside for about a year with roommates has made it a bit louder in my mind the past little bit, so perhaps this is a just concern of circumstance.

What she fails to explain is that women can live alone because they're making an extra $8kmonth posting pictures of their feet on OF, whereas the guy has to actually go out and get an education and go to a job to make the same amount of money.
If you live in bumphuck Alabama, maybe I can understand this sentiment, but if you're in NY/LA/Miami you'll be hard pressed to find someone truly living alone unless they're making money through degenerate (porn) or illegal (drugs) means.

I think the OF thing is extreme cause only a few make it big. Either way even if they're just making $2k a month that helps. Not to mention all the food + free outings they get. Plus whatever else they get for free. I always forget that just cause I'm not simping doesn't mean they aren't getting their life bankrolled by some loser.

early 20's? Sure I Get it, but by the time you're 30 you should be able to afford to live on your own. I can go to any city in the country and I can afford to live alone, because my job pays me enough to do it. What excuse does a 30 year old have to want to live alone? What is he saving money for at that point? He should have a bunch of money saved up from living out his entire 20's at home/roommates?
Me personally I just like having my own space to do whatever I want in. I also don't fault females for seeing it as a negative in most circumstances.

I live alone, and have done so for the most part of the last 7 years (let ex GF live with me for a while). But I'm envious of the friend groups that persisted after college and continued to live as roommates - their split of the rent + bills comes out to like $700-900/mo. It's not just for broke people... even if they make 6 figures a year, who doesn't want to save all that money, and use it for either investing in your future, or doing fun vacations? Meanwhile living alone my rent + bills are like $2.2k a month. I'd love that extra $1.5k/mo thank you. Regardless of what society thinks.

I last lived with my parents the summer after my sophomore year of college. But I don't judge people who live with their parents several years into working since it doesn't affect me and the only person they can be hurting after awhile is themselves.

i think it would be better then being homeless but this one guy i know was around 35 and still living with his parents and they had to kick him out cause he would get into fights with his dad . hes in section 8 housing now
