"The Shield" should be in the running. I've rewatched it twice and it doesn't lose any steam. Highly recommend. My favorite show of all time

I know the NPC answer is Breaking Bad, but it really might be the GOAT. It's so well-made, you get anxiety watching it even if you've seen it already.

I haven't seen The Wire or Sopranos but many say they're the best also

Sopranos followed by The Wire or maybe True Detective. Then Rome. Then Breaking Bad.

From the shows I've seen, probably Game of Thrones or Breaking Bad. The former for the budget, twists, drama, scope. The latter for the character developments, anticipation, recent era so more relatability (modern family in USA in the suburbs, modern tech and slang/dialogue).

I'd lean towards Game of Thrones though because Breaking Bad had too many primary characters that IMO set the show backwards (Skyler and her sister mainly).

GOT fizzled out hard after season 4

The Sopranos. Not only did it pave the way for every other show, it's also the best, which is insane if you think about it.

Gunsmoke and Bonanza both had really good runs. Should definitely be in the discussion.

Neither here nor there really, but their stuff around early 2010's was groundbreaking.

I think it holds up. Walking through the halls feels a little smaller as I've gotten older, but the episodes are pretty nuanced for how quick the stories run through.

True detective season 1 is probably the best ever made.

In terms of entire show start to end probably The Sopranos.
Survival. When the jungle tears itself down and builds itself into something new. Guys like you and me, we end up dead. Doesn’t really mean anything. Or, if we happen to live through it, well that doesn’t mean anything either.
