Giving up whey protein powder

I read a study today that an artificial sweetener (not the one used in my whey protein powder) causes blood clots and heart attacks. I use ON, and after checking the label I see that it uses sucralose (not the sweetener in the study) and long term use of it can lead to health problems. I’ve decided that after using up what I have left, I’m not buying it again. I’ll use plain non-fat Greek yogurt and cinnamon in my oatmeal.

One benefit will be saving a lot of cash that I would otherwise be spending on whey, about $380/year. I was buying it every other month.

Whey powder is the most overrated shyt I've ever taken tbh, but that's just my personal experience. I ditched it a couple of years ago and haven't looked back. That said, everyone is different so you need to take your personal situation and goals into consideration.

its an easy way to get protonz in your diet.
Every morning I start with a glass of water and ON protein. Get both hydrated and proteinated.

Listen, ON protein powder is essential for working out. Of course you're going to find studies trying to scare you from using it. They literally do that with everything you ingest. If they can't find anything they just say it causes cancer.

Only reason to stop is to save money.

I still use whey powder. It's nice and convenient to mix up a protein shake real quick. One thing I hate the most about bulking is the seemingly non-stop food prep, eating, then washing dishes… then 30 minutes later I feel I could eat again.

This morning I cooked one cup of oats and water in the microwave, and when it cooled off I added one cup of plain non-fat Greek yogurt from Costco and two teaspoons of cinnamon.

It actually didn’t taste bad at all, I’m doing this from now on.

don't fall for the meme that whey isn't "real food"


The problem is grown men getting flavors like cookies and cream or double choc like they are 12 years old. All the problems with whey is always the additives. Unless you have a issue with dairy, whey is literally one of the best sources of protein for you.

Yeah this. Unflavored is almost always the cheapest option. Add fruit and berries to give it flavor.

I once bought whey protein powder that came in a fcking birthday cake flavor. I bought it because it was on clearance and I swear it was so nasty and overly sweet and just vile.

I stopped using ON because it contains soy.

Switch to Ascent Native Fuel Whey if you're on a budget, but if money is no issue, switch to Transparent Labs 100% Grass Fed.
