Ever heard about that Japanese dude who died by "conscious decomposition?"

Dudes name was Hisashi Ouchi. He got hit with a mega dose of radiation while working in a factory. They flew him to a leading hospital in Tokyo where he lived for 83 days while his body essentially decomposed. When somebody gets severe radiation poisoning, it destroys their chromosomes or genetic code. New cells can no longer replicate to replace the cells dying from mitosis (natural cell death.) By the end, most of his skin died and sloughed off, his muscle fibers liquified leaving only the muscle cell membranes, his intestinal tract liquified and was chit out. His lungs began to decompose and fill with liquid. He was rapidly bleeding out and doctors were giving him constant blood transfusions.Dude was placed on a ventilator at one point and screamed in agony everytime his lungs filled with air because his entire body, inside and out was one massive bleeding wound. They had to wrap his body in gauze daily and peel it off along with the dying skin. He ended up dying at 83 days from massive organ failure. His heart, kidneys, liver, and lungs all failed.

Definetly the most brutal way to die. Worse than burning to death for sure, it would be probably similar pain except inside and out and prolonged for months.

yeah i read they volunteered some stuff and extended his suffering too much.
one of the worst ways to go.

seen a lot of Russia Ukrain vids and they are pretty bad as well. Like ive seen 5+ of shooting themselves in the head to end their own suffering.

He didn't consciously make the choice, the doctors just wouldn't let him die even though he pleaded with them to end his suffering.

Best thing to do would have been to euthanize him when he started declining. It's crazy that people will euthanize a dog so the dog doesn't suffer, but grandma will starve to death while hooked up to 10 machines just hoping for death.

Specifically it was his family that didn't want to let him die. And the doctors had never encountered something like this before.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

They portrayed a dude exactly like this in the HBO series Chernobyl. One of the workers who was in the plant when it exploded. He was disintegrating in the hospital bed. If you've never seen it - I suggest you do. Amazing series
