Brothers 30+, is it time to perma cut?
To maintain that youthful face aesthetics and body? im 29 and I am highly considering forever just eating mostly veggies and fruit with a protein source for my meals.

Everyone is different but for me, high fat diet = good skin.

As long as you're highly active you shouldn't have to obsess over dieting, that said, if you're not very active I recommend perma cutting, it sucks but if you want to keep a good physique at that age you kinda have to.

Yes. I realized this about 35. If you want to stay in shape, you need to keep calories down permanently.

29 brah checking in. The biggest thing for me is alcohol. Before I know it I can down like 800-1.2k Calories of drinks, and then make stupid decisions afterwards like buying a large pizza and breadsticks, or doing other things that sober Visel wouldn't even consider. And I can eat it all too srs, like my stomach is numb and I can't tell how full I am or something.
I think if you can live a life of no alcohol, or just have small doses in social encounters, and you workout often, you can "basically" eat whatever you want till you're full.
Lately I've been trying to avoid carbs, and this has been one of my favorite concoctions: 4 eggs, some skim milk, 2 slices of cheese, 3 chopped up reduced fat chicken hot dogs, seasonings (Italian Medley, garlic powder, cajun seasoning), scrambled all together, then cooked on a skillet using a chunk of garlic butter. Super low carb, mostly just protein and fat.
The above comes out to not even 800 Calories, less than 20g carbs, about 56g Protein and 50g fat. Fills me up too srs, I can do OMAD on just that without any cravings.

Yeah, I made the decision a bit ago to prioritize being lean over being a perma bulker (I don't want to be a geriatric bloatcel like Flex). Granted, I have a foundation from like 20 years of serious lifting…and I still lift just as much/hard - just not so fixated and overeating and being "big".
I honestly regret spending so many years doing the permabulk chit. I'm not sure about the "mostly eating veggies and fruit" part of your plan though.

need to maintain muscle mass brah, that is best trick. String beans past 30 look like ****. Just develop a good skincare routine, stay out of the sun or use good sunscreen. Dont drink or smoke (or do drugs) that **** ages you the worst.
Muscle mass is super important, even if TRT is required.

37 here. I really don't do bulking phases much any more. And I always did lean bulks, not bloatlord dirty bulks, even when I did use to do them to build size.
At some point I learned that I'm just not going to be adding that much more mass. And sure I probably haven't hit my true ceiling, but the effort it takes for what would be very small changes at this stage simply isn't worth it. It's much better to oscillate at a leaner level rather than focus any periods where I'd genuinely pack a bunch of weight on.
If you haven't been lifting that long this might not apply to you yet. I think it's less about a specific age and more about how long you've lifted and dieted seriously.

At some point you really have just put on the size that you're gonna have. The endless add then cut cycle just gets tedious and the incremental improvements become so small it's just like f*ck it time to live at a leaner level.
I still oscillate leaner/softer periods where I'm more consistent than other times but it's a much smaller weight range it's occurring in. Never really a true bulk.

I'm pretty content with the amount of mass I have (other than I would like my chest to be bigger, but genetics are what they are - it's not bad, but not where I'd like it to be). In an ideal world, yeah I'd probably like maybe another 20lbs of muscle or something but…I have well above average. Honestly, I think you get a lot more mileage just having above average muscle and being lean. More aesthetic, better for health, if you're hitting cardio (which you should be) then better overall fitness, etc. I do have the benefit of legitimately enjoying lifting and working out in of itself though, obviously for people that it feels like a real chore for…it's going to be tough to stick with it if you're not making any real progress (mass wise at least -obviously you can make other goals besides that, and I would encourage people to).
