It was purchased direct from the manufacturer. They are a small company and dont have an A.D in Australia. As far as I know there is only 1 or 2 places in Europe. It wouldn't take that long, but shipping express would cost over $50 US and that is without insurance. Paying for insurance adds to the cost of shipping, and then there is added problems of shipping something internationally with a declared value over $1k.

tell them what I said. and tell them to send you that item in the mail so that you can have a watch maker put it in here.

tell them the following:
1. you bought the watch recently (presumably)
2. its a factory defect
3. you do not want to send the watch overseas and have it take half a year to get back to you when youve only owned it for a month
4. its a 1000-1500 euro watch. who in their right mind would pay 200-300 euros for round trip shipping with insurance on a watch worth 1000-1500 euro for a defect it shouldnt even have had in the 1st place
5. if they still insist and its still an issue tell THEM to pay for express shipping.

try that and see what they say. srs

if they still say NO then tell the rep that youre gonna to post your story and emails on Watchuseek and rolexforums so the entire world knows of their incompetence and bad customer service

I did ask for a new chapter ring to be sent out. I dont fully understand, but she was trying to tell me the chapter ring in this watch is not one independent piece that can simply be switched out. Can anyone confirm if that is how some watches work?

I would assume it is just part of the case itself. Meh I wouldn't worry too much about it.

I would drop them an email, attach the pictures and act an extremely pissed off customer. If they don't offer to resolve the problem then just bite the bullet, keep the watch and never buy from them again

I did the pictures thing. I was pretty much told that I shouldn't be concerned about it, but if I wanted to I could return it (at my cost) for repair. All they would be doing is brushing it more. I have decided to keep it, it really isnt a big deal, just interested to know what other miscers would do in the same spot.

edit: In the end they lose out too. I really love some of their designs, and I like the fact that they are a small manufacturer who make everything to order. I was planning on being a repeat customer of theirs, I was eyeing off their enamel or guilloche dial offerings as a more dressy alternative. Don't think I will be doing that now.

it sounds like you asked them if you should be concerned. correct me if im wrong. well live and learn

personally i would never ever mail order a watch. if i get something new, theyd have to have a store nearby that i could go check out and pick up in person. so i have somewhere to go incase in need service.

Yeah with more significant purchases (for me) I think this will be my last mail order item. I did a ton of research before actually pulling the trigger on anything, and this was the watch I really wanted. Unfortunately it was only available from Germany. Overall I am still happy with the watch. It does look really good in person, the photos don't do it justice.

sup guys: challenge for you

I'm looking for a manual wind (no automatic) watch that's <40mm and comes with an exhibition caseback. It also needs to be fairly affordable at <$200 or less. Would consider $300 or so if I like it. The closest I've come is a tisell watch but its an auto.

Also I came across this Strela and its so fuking HNNNNNGGGG but its $400+ and I don't know how I feel about russian quality. At that point theres not reason to just get a speedmaster for a bit more. If I can't find what I'm looking for I'm gonna get a replica Panerai srs

Look at the seagull 1963. Manual winding, sub 40mm models available with a display back. Look similar to the strela model you posted, can be found under $300 and check for them on watch recon.

Just wanted to show you guys my brothers Nautilus. Its really beautiful. It wears much differently than a Royal Oak. The nautilus is incredibly thin, despite have complications. It feels almost as heavy as my daytona despite being on leather, but much much lighter than my AP.

For those who dont know, the Nautilus and the Royal Oak were both designed by the same man. Gerald Genta!

We have a few more really nice pieces that Id like to share with you guys. Maybe this weekend Ill take them out of the safe and shoot like a family horology photo!

No, fuk them. Brah from a business and customercare point of view: they are kunts! Yeah sure, they're a small company, but guess what, you paid FULL PRICE for a NEW ITEM without any defects. They however shipped out a defective item. That means their quality control is ****, and their customer care as well. You shouldn't have to pay for their mistakes. If they're too lazy or cheap to have decent quality control, they have to make up for that by having good customer care. But that's not the case, they're screwing you over. Of course you "shouldn't be concerned about it"; their only goal is to have you as a complaining client to stop complaining. Well, guess what, I wouldn't take that chit, I would tell them to take care of it or regret it, tell them you expected better quality (control) from them, and that they didn't deliver. Tell them you're not happy at all with the way they do business and that you'll take your dissatisfaction public. Tell them you've got well-established accounts on many watch forums, and that for any watch that only sells online, bad publicity isn't great. Scratches shouldn't even be there, since IF THEY'RE THE LEAST BIT DECENT, THEY'D USE PLASTIC PLIERS to assemble the watch (or at least plastic covered metal pliers). Furthermore, even if they put a scratch there, they should've noticed it before shipping out. Long story short, you paid for a new watch, not a defective one. They have to take care of it, or go through the dirt. Ask them if they're trying to save a few dollars now, only to lose thousands in the long run? A few threads about their quality control and customer care are plenty to repel a good amount of potential new customers, especially for an internet brand.

Finish with: "Your customers are your ambassadors, treat us correctly!"

Is there a way to figure out which jewelry and watch shops are going out of business? I remember my dad bought his $8k Breitling for around $5k new from a watch shop that was going out of business. I wish I knew as much about watches back then so I could've picked up something too.

It's perfect…. for a dress watch. The black shiny leather strap I bought for Christmas really brought it to life

The issue is I rarely get to wear it. Can't wear it when I'm with patients or when I'm at the lab. Basically it's just sitting on "his" throne in a vitrine haha

However I wouldn't mind a Nautilus 5711 (as stated above) as a daily wearer. Maybe a gift for myself when i defend my thesis and receive my PhD.. Hmm

I'd pass on the Tangente. But I personally don't mind a dress watch in casual setting, gotta just wear it confidently. Honestly most my watches could be considered dress, yet I wear tshirt and shorts errday.

I love the tangente, if you like it go for it. It's not a pure dress watch so it goes well enough casually imo.

Another dressier watch I like in that price range would be a Cartier tank. Been trying to get a new job for like 8 months now, very competitive. If I get it I'll add a jlc reverso, if not I'll get a tank.
