Timmy bought a house in the country. He doesn't have any neighbors.

Segue - we bought a house in the middle of nowhere...acres of woods surrounded by hundreds of acres of corn field. It'll be an hour to/from work every day, but getting away from civilization will be well worth it. Fingers crossed that the local farms have yote / hog problems. Step 1 is to build a home gym, step 2 is to build a short outdoor pistol range to shoot steel. Step 3...? Step 4, profit. Actually...step 4 might be to shoot that satellite dish off the roof with my 590.

Currently searching for land to build on and basically do the same thing, only with a pistol/rifle range being the first priority lol. I can't stand having neighbors, doesn't matter where you are at if you have neighbors nearby, there's a good chance they end up being people you absolutely can't stand.

There was another property within the radius that had a lot more land, and would be better for shooting, but $350k for the land + 500k to build a nice house was getting into house-poor territory for sure. The main factor for us was timing...my lease was ending at the end of the month and her small house wasn't an option for both of us. I'm not a massive guy, and I hit my head on a ceiling every time I visit.

I don't make crazy money by any means but I luckily make a comfortable wage and live in a relatively low cost of living area, for me it's a matter of just being patient enough for the right deal to pop up, I'd like to find a place with at least 10 acres in Iowa rather than Illinois but the price difference is significant comparing the two areas close to work for my wife and I. All in due time, just steadily moving towards debt free outside of my mortgage while trying not to blow everything on guns/cars lol.

If I'm lucky enough to find land I like enough to build on, my next goal will be convincing the wife to let me build a morton building style house lol.

GL brah, we are commuting from a free state into a commie state for work and it's definitely worth it. I'll drive an hour to go home to freedom.

Literally exactly what I'm doing lol, live in Iowa, work in Illinois, 45 minutes drive to work every day where I currently live, if I want to move much closer I'll have to spend double the money for the same house closer to the river, which is probably what I'll end up doing, trying to weigh that and just buying a small chunk of land in Illinois just for play purposes and not worrying about having as much land connected to my actual residence.

Jelly af. I live in a rural subdivision basically. Neighborhood in the country but with only 2.6 acres so not enough to shoot on.

Trump going full retard on suppressors hurts me specifically...I'd like to be able to shoot on my property without pissing off the people living several hundred yards away. It's a long way off, but still a noise issue...if I am shooting drills using an AR that can sound like a reason to call the cops. With a can, not so much.

I'll be able to buy a decent little chunk of land specifically for building my own little range and a garage for my toys eventually a lot cheaper than where I'm looking at in Iowa while keeping various non Illinois friendly tools on the Iowa side.

The was up in the mountains west of here. I think the "Killdozer" moniker just comes form the fact that it was basically a tank and was laying waste to everything in its path. The dude was also shooting out of it at LEO and whoever else got too close. He was a little unhinged.

He didn't kill anyone (except himself) but probably could have if there had been more people in the buildings or they couldn't have gotten out in time before he started knocking them down.
