I don't think that parents are necessarily the best people to determine what's best for a child... I knew a father who was literally bragging about grabbing his 14 year old girl by the throat, because she did something he didn't like. (I stopped speaking to him after that, just for the record.)

He, another father, and his partner saw the horrified look on my face, and were trying to genuinely argue with me that kind of thing happened to them, and 'they turned out alright'.

Edit: Forgot to add... Guess what the 14 year old was caught doing... Hitting her sister... That's right, she grew up in a household where they literally told me about blowing in their youngest daughters eyes when she was crying because it annoyed them, and bragging about grabbing a teen girl by the throat (the dude legit was proud), and wondered why their kids were hitting each other out of anger... Phuckin idiots.

The research is pretty overwhelming and there is a consensus that it's harmful to kids.

People can ignore the research, but it's there.

This right here. There's a few things that'll happen when parents use physical punishments:

- They end up okay.Spoiler!
(Which from what I gather, though if someone can point me to a study I'd be interested to see evidence of the contrary, is rare)

- They just learn that they need to be secretive/manipulative to avoid punishment.
- They accept that physical violence by/to someone you love is okay if there's a justification for it.
- If they're not a beta-kunt, when they get older will fight/beat their parents' ass back.
Spoiler!
My behavioral problems as a kid stopped the day I hit my mother back.Shelearned real quick that I grew into someone with enough self-respect to demand that I won't be treated that way by anyone. Stopped using physical forms of punishment after a pretty sad incident tbh. And from there on I wasn't acting out, and tbh I turned out alright I think, but that is in spite of being punished physically, not because of it.

I'd say that's good riddance to the parent. Just accept the fact that you raised an idiot, wasted the money, go NC completely.
Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit softly.

I got my ass beat a few times growing up. It was never a instant thing for me though, it was usually after I was initially punished then told "not to do this/that" multiple times that a asswhoopin came. Im fine though, all the kids I knew that the parents just tried to talk and be friends with them usually turned into weapons of destruction upon society. They got away with everything because they didnt fear their parents. Talking and taking away stuff didnt do anything because they knew it would be given back. After a spanking if I even had the thought of doing whatever it was again I would not do it.

I have a 3 (soon to be 4) year old and I have popped him on his butt once after days and multiple times of telling him/talking to him, and taking away his stuff. He learned his lesson after that.

That father was either really strict or very soft on his daughter. You're at the mercy of society when you have a daughter. If her friends are trashy, shes going to do everything in her power to be like them. They're exposed to social media and see how grown women are dressing or acting and they want to replicate it. The best you can do is talk to her during her pre teen/teen years and pray she actually listens. As a parent you can only do so much. Her friends and the internet will have a bigger influence on their life than you will. (this day in age.)

Late high-school / College experiences seem to shape a person more than their early years. Grew up with 2 siblings on a farm in a small rural town, They are both pretty extreme leftists, and I'm middle of the road maybe slightly right, parents both middle as well. We had near identical experiences and upbringing, what they were exposed to in college seems to have shaped them more into the people they are today.
I think things like political ideology can be largely shaped later in life, based on actual life experience as a conscious choice. Whether you vote D or R though isn't *really* that big of deal. Most people have a pretty weak connection between their political beliefs and how they live their day to day lives.

Whether or not a kid is going to be a violent felon is just about 1000% determined before the kid is 10. Probably earlier than that. The cement dries pretty young on the super foundational personality stuff.

There's a very big difference between grabbing a teen by the throat or spanking a little kid a few times to get a point across.

LOL, you know you have no argument when you have to resort to using an insult that isn't true. "Yeah well you have a small pen0r!"
You were beat as a kid because your parents didn't have the mental aptitude to deal with your discipline in a better manner. I truly do feel sorry for people like you, stunted because of their parent's ignorance. But I'm also grateful for all the bad parents, and mentally ill-developed man-children such as yourself. They show me exactly what not to do while raising my own children, It's through your sacrifice that I can ensure my offspring become the best version of themselves that they can be.
I was beat as a kid because I hung out with wrong crowds at school and would constantly get in trouble at school. Kids don't know any better. I had way too much testosterone as a kid/teen than I knew what to do with. And smacking your kids does work, it's a simple Pavlovian response. You can tell a kid not to touch a hot stove but some will do it anyway and learn through pain otherwise they won't understand yet. Your parents are lucky they had an incel, low-test kid to deal with.

I am very self aware of my childhood, when ever I got whippings I was always thinking of ways how to do things without my parents finding out. It is not healthy relationship, instead of asking for help for my grades I would instead hide my report card in fear of a whipping, it did not encourage me to get better grades. Things that I did bad and became aware to was from my own self awareness, for example I was bullying a kid calling him four eyes, and I felt extreme sadness cause of how he reacted and his facial reaction, it made me feel real bad so I never did it again. I didn't stop doing it cause he kicked my ass, or my dad put a belt to me.

If we can learn anything from slavery, whipping doesn't do anything in terms of discpline. It just keeps people in line in your presence cause they don't like pain. We all want the best for our kids, but whipping won't help. Kids are going to make mistakes, possibly terrible ones. But the best you can do is be wise and be open and offer solutions, not butting heads with your kids over politics, and your personal views, throwing tantrums, etc. My best mentor was my grandmother as a kid who offered wisdom about decision making, and learning, etc she was a teacher. Encouraged me to love reading, and learning, and very wise look on life. When I did something bad she would sit down and talk about it like a philospher. It kind of has passed down on to me which is why I am this way and you are the way you are, all you know is the belt.
You need both compassion and the ability to lay down the law when necessary. I was a bad kid, talking and understanding alone wouldn't have done anything. I would've just tuned them out

Good or bad parenting does not equal good or bad children. Kids and young adults have a higher likely hood of being good/bad based on upbringing but in now way is the correlation high enough to say whether parents were good or bad.

Just lol at the anti-spanking crew. If you don't discipline your kids then they find someone else to discipline them. In this case she found some bigBC's to take over her father figure. That father should cut her off and beat her ass if she ever shows up anywhere near his house again.

That wasn't the point I was making.

I was directly replying to someone who said 'lol @ people without kids commenting about parenting', the point of my post was that someone like that justifies grabbing his teen child by the throat.

Just because someone is a parent, doesn't mean that they automatically know what's best for their kids.

There seem to be a number of parents ITT, outright ignoring decades of research on the affects of spanking. Despite it being consensus that it has a negative affect, some parents seem to believe that they automatically know better.

This, srsly. If you have to resort to throwing a tantrum and smacking your kid around, it's not the kid's fault. It's because you failed as a parent. You didn't fail in that one instant, it's the culmination of a string of failures where your child has become so disobedient and your temper so short that as an adult, you do not have the mental strength to discipline a child through other means and have to beat them instead because you lack impulse control. It says a lot about an adult if they can't deal with a kid and have to resort to chimping out. Ever noticed how people talk about how good being smacked around never get over it? They think of it as a good thing, but they have these childhood hangups about it from being conditioned hard, nor do they acknowledge anything else in their childhood made them who they are, just the beatings.

I have nephews and obviously I don't smack them around, but the fact that I don't resort to petty chit like their parents (my older brother and his wife) do, like smacking them because they can't deal with screaming, ill-behaved children (a result of their own parenting). Whereas I can put them in their place, deal with their screaming and crying until they tire themselves out and give up. They soon learned that I have far more patient and willpower than their parents and will not put up with their chit in the same way and consequently, they listen to me and do as I say a lot more frequently than with their own parents. Also, they actually confide in me to a degree and will complain about their parents parenting.

Would rep, but on spread from whenever.

Besides this, the girl in the OP obviously has a chitty relationship with her father. Regardless of what you see in that text, there's a lot of other chit going on there. It's like when you see people that are extremely liberal or extremely conservative, their route to those points of view are again, the culmination of a lot of little things. And a lot of it stems from being outsiders and losers and having to find some kind of community among other losers. In one way, they swing to the extreme left and find identity there, and end up taking things like Twitter, Tumblr and other blog services extremely seriously. Likewise, they can go the other way for similar reasons of wanting identity.

I can only imagine, a band of manlets with terminal ILS prancing around high school pretending to be tough.

I was so low test that at 12 I was already 6'2 with 23" shoulders. My parents were lucky they had an intelligent kid to deal with. But I can understand why you were beaten, I'm sure your parents were filled with blind, impotent rage, at having to deal with rearing a mentally deficient child. Violence is never the answer, let alone for special people such as yourself.

They say dumb people learn from their mistakes, smart people learn from other's mistakes. We know which category you fall into, the former, not the latter.

I don't think the same about someone who may just get a physical stimulation (e.g. a woman who legit gets off on sucking dick or prefers getting phucked up the ass... Those women don't feel 'degraded' they just like doing the act. And would be offended if you said the have less worth because they like to do those things). But a woman or man who gets off on being devalued... IMO they have somethingseriouslywrong with them... Even if they are a socially functioning person.

Why would you get sexual pleasure from having your status/value lowered? Something seriously phucking wrong with men who get off on the humiliation of seeing their partners with someone else, and 'collared' women who get off in being spoken about and treated like crap.

I used to have a 'lasseiz-faire' attitude to it, until I thought about why they get off on having their self-esteem/status lowered... That is seriously messed up. I honestly hope they never become parents, until they sort that part of their psyche out.
Idk what it says about society, but at least 70% of women get off on degradation

I don't know that I've ever known a woman intimately who didn't have at least a little rape fantasy in her, either.

Violence is never the answer, let alone for special people such as yourself.

I usually find people who are intelligent don't need to remind people they're smart.

What truly matters is results. In the end I turned out to be doing very well in life (by both my family and my own standards). And only moving up. Not to mention my childhood made me tougher and develop a high threshold for pain / tenacity that other kids did not develop.

You're right that this won't work on everyone because most people do break under these conditions. But you're also highly unconscious of your weak and beta traits. This is also why you're fat and have trouble maintaining a leanness that naturally high test males can achieve and sustain effortlessly.

Your eyes and bone structure truly reveal your submissive personality, one of femininity and softness. Unfortunately LOL, that can't be changed. Your personality growing up really expresses in your facial structure during puberty, and this shows through the eye shapes / bone structures.

And it's funny how the only thing you can resort to is a childish insult like calling me a manlet, never the topic at hand. A grown man who can't handle an argument without resorting to a puerile insult. According to your bio you are 6'1 and 254 lbs fat. I'm your height but lean, but i guess calling people names is what kids have always done to make them feel better about themselves. Thanks for proving why parents need to whoop their kids sometimes, otherwise they grow up to be adults with beta features who haven't grown past the 5th grade mindset.

What have you done with that higher threshold for pain? Did you like join the military in a combat role? Or are you just talking out of your ass while working as a construction worker? Is the pain you reference centered around your lower back?

Let's do a ban bet, I guarantee my test is at least twice as high as yours, and I have lab results for every month to prove that.

I've been called a lot of things in my life, but never submissive and soft.

I don't wanna be that guy, but you insulted me first, so don't try to take the high road. You're not my height, unless you have the shortest arms in the world, not only that, but you weigh 160lbs, isn't that what the average woman weighs in the US.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.
