They collapsed so far that the fall may have knocked them unconscious, no chance to fight your way out. If they managed to get out of the car in that cold water, they had a loooong way to swim. So scary.

It's pretty ironic that the bridge named after the creator of Americas national anthem collapsed today, just as this entire country is collapsing before our eyes.


"Francis Scott Key wrote “The Star Spangled Banner” and its initial verse on the back side of a letter while watching the large American flag waving over the fort that morning. Back in Baltimore, he continued working until he had completed four verses (only one of which is commonly known today).

After a local printer issued the song, originally called “Defence of Fort M’Henry,” two Baltimore newspapers printed it, and it spread quickly to various cities along the East Coast."

The perspective was always nuts. It wasn't quite as high as say the GW Bridge or the Verrazzano, but those types of bridges are already starting at a relatively big height, or is a gradual climb. The Key Bridge you started from sea level and had a decent climb. There were times I drove over when it was foggy and you couldn't see either end of the bridge, or the water below. Gave me vertigo. And with tight lanes and usually high winds, you had to pay attention on that bridge.
