Any MWC brahs have any experience with Girard *********? I finally placed my order for my Nomos Ahoi and was looking around the dealer and started checking out their GP section. Never really looked at them that closely (mostly because I've usually only seen their really high end tourby stuff which is way out of my price range) but their regular stuff (Travellers, Hawks, and some 1966's) look really good to me and the prices are actually much better than I thought. Thinking about one as possibly my next purchase and have been doing research but wanted to hear anyone's first hand experience.

Decent watches. Make sure you buy used. The deprecation on them is absolutely brutal.

How would you guys rotate one expensive watch with 2 cheaper ones?

2 cheaper ones during the day. Expensive one @ night or nice functions.

tbh i dont take into account the price of watch when selecting what im going to wear. I usually get dressed and then try a few on and have my wife tell me which one looks the best. chances of someone knowing what you paid for your watch are slim, chances of them noticing your watch and complimenting on it if it goes well with your outfit are high, wear what you like.

PO is good all the time. Neither of your Orients are beaters. I wore my Breitling Chronoavenger while fisting a deer a couple weeks ago. It'll be fine.

If anything, the Orients would probably better compliment a suit.

Match your watch to your outfit and where you plan on being that day/time.
I have everything from Patek to AP all the way down to Seiko and Rodina. Just depends where I'm going and what I'm wearing

Protip: 89%+ of people don't know sh*t about watches, just that some look good

Hey guys,

I'm on the hunt for an early 80s Seiko 7a28-7020, i.e. this guy:

Spoiler!

If y'all know anyone who has one they're willing to sell one, shoot me a PM. To clarify, this is the white on stainless, NOT the white on two-tone that are all over eBay.

You shouldn't listen to the standards of a clique - it's like folks telling you what kind of music you should listen to. Get what you like & enjoy it. Which model & year is your Carrera? Prob will be the next watch I get. I got an Aquaracer recently (the new chrono with the ceramic bezel, hnnng), and of course the eyes keep wandering. Been digging the looks of the new Carrera 01.

I'm looking into Christopher Ward. Specifically this model https://www.christopherward.co.uk/wa...ent-300-693404

What do y'all think? Quality? Price? I think I'll only purchase if there is a good coupon. What are your thoughts??

also, I think my wrists are around 6.2-3. but I own Steinhart and Seiko which are both around 43-45mm I believe, these come in 43cm or 38cm. Would it hurt to order a 38cm?

I was one of the biggest Tag bashers ITT. Until Biver took over. The new aquaracer is a phenomenal watch and value. They just upped the quality a lot without hiking prices up. I've got the ceramic 3 hand model and I love it. I handled the Carrera 01 a month ago when I bought my Panerai. Very nice watch, I did find it a bit hard to read though. Assuming you are talking about the skeleton chrono.

I know the Aquaracer had bad QC with the crown allowing water in at depth; any idea if that's been resolved as well?

No idea. I can tell you the crown screw down action is much better. A beefier crown stem as well I believe. I've worn mine in the pool with no problems. IMO this is now the sub $1500 diver to beat.

That was the problem; at depth it would bend so when you tried unscrewing it above water it wouldn't close properly and let water in.

I'd still take an Oris Aquis over it, though, but that's more of an aesthetic thing.

thoughts? Thinking about picking this bad boy up. Is this a brand you can trust for quality? I really do like the look, but don't want to be buying a piece of trash for the price ~$105

Yup, that's the Carrera I'm talking about.

I completely agree that the new Aquaracer range is sick. I grew up borrowing my dad's Rolex (my fave was the Submariner, but he also had a President & a Datejust). To me, this latest incarnation of the Aquaracer is like a more avant garde version of the Submariner - on anabolics. I've had the watch for almost 2 weeks now, still honeymooning with it. I'm loving the aesthetics of the polygonal ceramic bezel & how it captures light. Here it is in a few diff lighting situations:

The bezel doesn't look right when comparing to my SKX007, but the face looks legit. The easiest way to spot a fake is to look at the back; the wave will be lasered or carved in instead of raised and the serial number will be uneven.

This would have been a new (semi reasonable) grail watch for me if it wasn't for the co-branding. Have no interest in Range Rover, or co-branded watches generally. Apart from that, its super Hhnnnghhhh:

HNNNNNGGGHHHHHed until I saw the co-branding as well.

Strongly reminds me of the Omega Grey Side of The Moon Speedmaster

You guys ever thought about downsizing your collections? Recently I have entertained thoughts of downsizing to one vintage watch, one diver, one chrono, and one dress watch

Would require getting rid of all the affordables….

I've downsized big time this past year, couldn't be happier. Once your collection starts becoming a worry, it's time to stop worrying. I sold pieces I told myself I'd keep forever, I don't regret a thing. If you don't wear em, sell em. If you keep buying new watches anyway, it's no more than normal you sell a few as well. As for downsizing itself: you shouldn't have certain criteria, just do what feels right. The criteria are a good way to get you thinking about which ones you like best though. My criteria were dial-wise: black dial? I've aready got all these that I love and wear, so every single black dial I don't and won't wear (enough) can go. Next up is blue dials… That way it was pretty easy letting some pieces go, despite their apparent beauty and greatness, if you don't wear them, either give them away, or sell them.
