Just ordered an Uncle Seiko President bracelet for my Turtle.
I've sized two 2nd Gen Monsters. That taught me that I never want to deal with a pin&collar bracelet again.
The US President uses screws for the links.

I notice you are an Ausbrah, make sure you buy online to save that markup. Unless Melbourne has better shops than up here in Brisbane. I have an Orient and a Tissot. Tissot cost about 3 times as much but there are things I prefer about the Orient. Never handled a Hamilton IRL.

Yeah I normally buy from Longislandwatch, do you have any other recommendations? I never buy in store, they're 90% of the time overpriced fashion rubbish - I also remember asking the staff questions and most of them didn't even know the difference between quartz/mechanical movement lmao. Interesting that you preferred the Orient over the Tissot - any reason why?
It's absurd to worry about what other people think about you because they almost never do. Like you, they are too busy thinking about themselves and how much they think other people are thinking about them.

Not really prefer the entire watch, just certain things. And im definitely not an expert. The crown on the Orient has a longer 'pull' so its easier to set the date and time, and the actual turning of the crown is smoother for lack of a better word. The Tissot is kinda difficult to get the crown right between date and time. Just a little thing but I alternate so I have to set them every time I wear them pretty much. The Tissot is both automatic and manual wind though which is handy too.

I got the Orient from longislandwatch, and I got the Tissot from creationwatches i think. I priced the Tissot at a jeweller at the local Westfield which was having a supposedly cost price sale and it was around $800 on sale, i paid around $600 delivered online. Just got the GF a Tissot too for her bday and it worked out around half the in store price delivered from the US.

copied this from the thread I made and was linked here

looking to buy a citizen Nighthawk later this afternoon, whats the deal with citizen? As far as I know they are a pretty reputable brand but I am new to watches aside from fossil. The eco drive is very interesting but how long does it last?

its my understanding that the eco drive is a light charged system rather then having a battery? tried to buy it today at the bay and it was so complicated I didnt get it. They needed to get it shipped from another store and would not let me pay cash I had to pay with a credit card and then it would take 30 days to come to the store or I can order it online and it will come in 7 days. They legitimately would not take my money unless I gave them a card and waited 30 days. wtf, over. I really wanted to see the watch in person before ordering and after an hour of talking to the girl came to the conclusion it would be impossible to buy this fukkin thing without waiting a month and coming back.

I'm not the biggest expert by any means, but after perusing various watch forums for a while, there are few watches in the price range that I see so regularly recommended as the Nighthawk (along with various Seikos and Orients).

there's a battery that charges via light. It stores power for quite a while without being charged if need be. (A few months I believe), and accumulates enough charge to do so in a relatively short period of exposure to light.

Got it off amazon.co.uk real cheap as I am in europe at the momeny. Apparently they are just about impossible to get over in the states and I wanted something a little different than the Seiko 007 or 009.

Here's the site: http://gigandet.com/tauchen/

And here's the amazon link (Apparently the description is wrong and it is actually a Seiko NH35 movement):

The Seiko NH35 movement is much preferable to the Miyota 8215.

I've got one in the store and don't mind taking pictures of it on or various angles if that helps you at all. Not the same as seeing in person but may give you a better feel for it. As for the movement, like the guy below said, there's no battery but light is converted to energy and stored in a capacitor. They claim it stores enough that it will run for 6 months in the dark before losing a charge. I've got one I left in my closet for a couple months without wearing and it was down. 9 times out of 10 if someone ever brings one in that is stopped all you have to do is put it under a lamp for a bit and it will start going again. The capacitors can go bad and then need to be replaced, but its pretty rare. They're solid watches.

anyone have any suggestions where to sell a watch? I've been lurking on watchuseek (join date 2011), but have only amassed a whopping 23 posts, and you have to have 100 posts to sell anything… That site is so slow, it will take a year to get there lol
