Looks like a market and dollar decline heading into the French elections about a month from now is what is necessary to trap the shorts before the massive swing to the upside on both. If gold can rally above 1245 then I can see it going to 1308.

AAPL bearish af technically. Made ATHs this morning and closed down 1.15%. Reminds me of Sept. 2013's close.

fuuuuuuk. DSW and TGT further demolished today.

If I just bought all KO I would be laughing right now.
By far my best stock.

Looking to get in on ford, general electric and maybe double down on target as it lowers to 50.

Slamt, do you think ford is good buy at this price?

I hate most equities stock here for the most part. I will only long anything that's super coiled, other than that I am short bias on most names.

Especially in the auto industry, I think there are some loan concerns/problems that are popping up there.

Getting rekt on these amd puts. Should have taken my profits on Friday, but I got greedy lmao.

Still think amd is going down, but my timing is off.

Dude, there is a bond crisis waiting to burst in so many areas. Like I constantly talk about govt. bonds about ready to pop from their 0% interest induced bubble, but the auto industry is fuked too. Some stats from thestreet.com:
Several data points to consider:

Losses for subprime auto loans, annualized, were 9.1% in January, up from from 8.5% in December and 7.9% in the first month of 2016, according to S&P. The rate is the worst since January 2010 and is being fueled by worsening recoveries after borrowers default, notes S&P.
More than six million U.S. consumers are at least 90 days late on their car loan repayments, according to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.
The U.S. finished last year with about $1.2 trillion in outstanding auto loan debt, up 9% from the previous year and 13% higher than pre-crisis peak in 2005, in inflation-adjusted terms according to DOT data.

As for trading, my timeline is this correction lasts until the French elections. Le Pen winning will destroy the Euro and send the US$ and our shares market rallying to new ATHs. I'm actually just going to stick a ton of money into SPY calls that don't expire until the fall when that the bottom gets set in May.

Don't know what catalyst takes us there but I think we see way lower by Summer, agreed there. By the time everybody hates trump and markets turn bearish on him, I'll buy my calls.

I got ford and I could see them continuing down lower. Sales volume dropping although truck sales are still poppin' which could have been pent up demand from oil riggers. Lmfao at TGT getting wrecked no end in sight there. We could be entering our first decent 5-10% correction which has been a long time coming. Hopefully the housing market takes a small tumble along with it so I can buy my house in the next 2 years with a decent mortgage rate

Will be watching some overpriced and debt heavy companies for a short opportunity if panic starts to creep further.

Because maybe ford will go back up to 12.50 and I could actually make some money.

Do fundamentals even matter? The stock market is mostly a bunch of bullchit.

TBH, I want nothing more than a 10% correction but I doubt we'll get even 5. I'll load up with everything I got in May. This is gonna be the ultimate bear trap.

Fundamentals never matter and I'm 100% serious. Reason being that stocks ALWAYS move in ANTICIPATION. That means that they react in anticipation of future events that may or may not become reality. If you try and apply fundamentals and reason you'll lose your shirt. Believe me, I traded AAPL religiously for three straight years.

Yea key word TRADED. If you buy a profitable company that has a solid business plan it is safe to expect them to grow and be profitable for years to come. Nowadays you do have to worry about certain companies having their market "disrupted" or whatever kids these days call it. But the point is profitable companies are always going to be there and keep going up. Companies with tons of debt and other issues get merc'd first and foremost when the markets are uncertain or they have more than 1 or 2 bad news stories come out (unless you are TSLA).

Obviously specific numbers n stuff aren't as big of a deal, but being profitable is obviously important as well as market share, but growth should be icing on the cake.

This is correct. In the short-term many traders ignore fundamentals, however when things turn down and the market becomes fearful, they flee to the fundamentally strong companies.

And many traders either ignore or don't know how to interpret financial statements, causing them to invest in companies that risk dilution or bankruptcy. I use these criteria to help choose my hedge Put options.

Ditched all my long positions when SPY started to flinch yesterday. Small loss on ACIA and gave back a little bit of gains on CX. Took AMD and NVDA shorts to play the surge down but covered by EOD. Currently, holding a MOMO short from about 32.23 average. I'm looking for it to fill the gap on the daily, but I'm keeping a close eye on it if SPY begins to bounce.

i'm holding Ford long term. Still pretty noob at this, but I just like the company. I don't see them suddenly tanking or rocketing, but I personally saw it as a safe 5% div, with some potential for long term growth.

Theoretical question for gold experts.

Gold has an "inverse relation" to the dollar/market.

But lets say the U.S. dollar somehow becomes worthless due to an extreme economic collapse. What becomes the value of gold since it is traded in USD?

Regardless of an inverse relation, the value of gold would seem to be $0 since the dollar has no value. That doesn't seem right and the only answer that friends came up with is that it would be pegged to another currency.
