Fuk guys…less than 2 weeks til the combine. I need some football chit asap. Work is so crazy lately football is always my happy place.

Really I can't wait til free agency to see who else we add to this team and help put the draft into a clearer picture. I really hope Lions don't tag Ziggy Ansah because I'd love to address pass rusher heading into this draft and sign one of the corners out there as well(hoping Kyle Fuller isn't tagged by the Bears)

The more I reflect on what happened this season in the NFL the more I want us to surround Jimmy with a monster OL. Look at how great Nick Foles looked behind that great Philly OL. Nick Foles isn't terrible but he's no Jimmy G.

Turn this OL into a great unit by double dipping in FA and the draft. It sounds like the Giants are going to go full steam at Norwell and make him the highest paid guard. Honestly I'd be ok with us doing the same thing and turning this OL into a serious force. Then find a way to draft Frank Ragnow and other OL in this class to groom.

Come into next year with an OL something like this…

Staley, Norwell, Kilgore/Ragnow, Garnett/Ragnow/Rookie, Brown and I think we have something to really build on.

Find a way to Ronald Jones at RB and this offense can carry the D. And even the D could be pretty good if Foster wasn't a fuking idiot.

LDE: Solomon Thomas
NT: Mitchell
DT: Buckner
LEO: Ansah
OLB: TBD
ILB: Foster/TBD
OLB: TBD
CB: Spoon
FS: Colbert
SS: Tartt
CB: FA

Our linebackers are a bit of a mess especially with Foster's situation but I think linebackers are a little easier to find…they may not be on the level of Willis/Bowman/Foster but we can find guys who can play behind that DL.

Whose your top 5 picks if we stay put at #9 or 10?

Mine are:

1. B. Chubb
2. Q. Nelson
3. R. Smith
4. T. Edwards
5a. S. Barkley
5b. Derwin James - my wildcard. I think he's going to be really good. Safety just isn't a need for us but the dude can do a lot of things on the defense.

I'm scared of Fitzpatrick. If he had more reps at outside corner I'd be more comfortable.

I'm very interested in what we can do in free agency. Looks like the 49ers will be a very appealing choice to many so hopefully we can get some team friendly deals in. Need to address corner in free agency to help our already young secondary.

Really don't see Barkley, Chubb or Fitzpatrick being available.

My top 5 regardless of who's available would be

1. Chubb
2. Fitzpatrick - don't know if he could excel at corner but I love him
3. Harold Landry
4. Quenton Nelson
5. Roquan Smith

My top 5 based on who is likely available

1. Landry
2. Nelson
3. Smith
4. Josh Jackson
5. Denzel Ward

I don't mind the Kilgore re-signing. He allowed no sacks in the last five games, OL matters but so does the chemistry between the OL and QB.

F it. Give me Nelson…it’s not the sexy pick obviously but seems to be the sure thing and can lock down a position at a decent salary for awhile. I really think we pay Brown, so a reasonable rate at G for a guy a lot of people have as a can’t miss isn’t bad. That play against LSU was just nasty.

I’m with the Ansah but damn pass rushers are just so expensive and dude did most of his work in two games. Sort of scares me. We need to find that Aldon Smith (but not Aldon Smith) in the draft . Damn dude pissed away a very promising caeer. How can he even look his family in the face or himself in the mirror? In b4 it’s a disease etc etc while millions others have the same “disease” and overcome it.

Dunno if there's a Jared Allen in this class but some small school guys worth a look are Nathan Shepherd who looked pretty damn good at the senior bowl and can sneak into day 2.

Ja'von Rolland-Jones getting some hype as a small school rusher but doesn't have the size or production that Allen had.

Saw there's talk of Robert Quinn being let go by the Rams. If it happens he's my #1 FA want. I think you guys remember my obsession for him in 2011. Would certainly give us the pass rush bump we need at Leo.

Yea, I’m with you. I read the same about how he could be cut to free space for Donald’s contract. Please let us get Quinn with a chip on his shoulder, and at a “reasonable” expense.

Fuk. Come on combine, FA and draft. Then schedule so I can make what game I’m going to.

Here is my pre combine mock I’ve put together. I assume we address some if not most of our “needs” in free agency which includes getting a starting corner.

Pre-Combine Mock w/ no trades
Rd 1: Harold Landry (DE) – gets off the snap quickly. I’ve seen comparisons to Vic Beasley and Bruce Irvin.
Rd 2: Will Hernadez (G) – 2nd best guard in the draft. May not be there in the late 2nd where we pick.
Rd 3: Auden Tate (WR) – Big WR who can become our red-zone threat. Didn’t have a ton of #s in college due to poor QB play.
Rd 3 (from Chi): Rashaad Penny (RB) – Can do it all at the RB position. He doesn’t look like the most athletic back but he knows how to find the endzone.
Rd 4: Isaac Yiadom (CB) - 6’1 corner who excelled in one on one drills at senior bowl. Viewed as a mid round pick who is moving up
Rd 5: Josey Jewell (LB) – Compares to Sean Lee. Not the most athletic guy but can run. ok ok I love the name mostly
Rd 6: Austin Golson (C) – Played all 5 OL spots but projects to center in NFL. Very valuable skill set.
Rd 7: Korey Robertson (WR) – WR from The University of Southern Mississippi, (my alma mater)

I really really want Sony Michel and Rashaan Evans but I think both go somewhere between our first pick and our late 2nd round pick. In the perfect world we’d trade down from 9 and acquire another 2nd rounder but I don’t see anyone wanting to move up to 9. Landry is a slight reach at 9 but I don’t see my draft crush Quenton Nelson getting past Chicago at 8.

I'd be pretty damn happy with that haul. Not a huge fan of Tate and have my favorites over Hernandez at Guard but they hit clear needs and both could be studs.

You know I'm a big Landry fan and would love to get Penny in the 3rd(would be happy with him in the 2nd too)

I'm really curious to see what we do in free agency it will help clear up the needs for us heading into the draft.

I have to say I'm really falling in love with Ronald Jones…dude would be a fuking monster in Kyle's offense.
I'm also really digging Denzel Ward who I think kills the combine. If we go corner in the first he's the guy I want. I'm still a Josh Jackson fan but love Ward's overall game even with his size.

Another player i've been watching recently who really intrigues me and I'd like to see in the 3rd if we don't go pass rush earlier is Lorenzo Carter. His tape is maddeningly inconsistent but he flashes some killer talent and has great size, curious to see his combine results, I'm sure they won't disappoint. Loved what he did in the Notre Dame game which is ironic because that OL is pretty damn studly. Dude was making impact plays left and right but Oklahoma and Bama games were super uninspiring.

Would love to get him in here and coach him up. Have him play SAM and move down to Leo on obvious pass rush situations.

Who do you like at guard?

I haven't really checked into Ronald Jones but I think he'd be there with our 3rd rounder maybe.

Josh Sitton got released? That’s interesting. Seems like guard is pretty loaded in FA. I was kinda hoping Quentin Nelson would fall to us but it might not be necessary.

What if our offseason looked like:

Sign guard Norwell
Sign Trumaine Johnson
Sign Dion Lewis

Trade down from 9/10 to 15 with Arizona (they’ll be trying to get a QB). Get their second and maybe another later pick

Draft:

15. Calvin Ridley, WR
47. (via ARI) Arden Key, pass rusher
59. Ronald Jones, RB

Trying to envision an offseason without AR15 since I’m all in on him and need a positive outlook in case we don’t get him.

I love Braden Smith and Frank Ragnow…Ragnow as someone who starts at guard then moves over to Center or outright beats out Kilgore.

I also think you guys are really underselling Jones. He may go in the first round and I'd be surprised(but very happy) if he fell to us in the 2nd round with our current pick.

I'd love Norwell even though some people think he's not a major scheme fit but just like Nelson I think the dude can play in any scheme and play well in it.

I'm lukewarm about Trumaine Johnson and Lewis, not that I'd hate the signings as I think they're very good players but think they'll get more than they deserve.

I love Ridley and think he'd be nasty in this offense but seeing what Jimmy did with the guys we had I'd rather address another position in the first round. There are some talented WRs to develop in this class.

As for Key…I don't trust that dude at all and I hope someone else takes a chance on him. We already drafted one dude who left his team. Key is a great talent but i don't trust him at all. I also don't think he falls that far…honestly if he did I'd be ok with taking the risk but not in the first.

If I'm doing my dream offseason scenario at this point it'd be something like this.

FA:
Sign Robert Quinn after Rams cut him
Sign Avery Williamson
Sign Andrew Norwell
Sign Chris Hubbard
Sign Kyle Fuller

Draft:

1. Trade down mid teens and pick up an additional 2nd and a day 3 pick
1. Denzel Ward - CB
2a. Ronald Jones - RB
2b. Frank Ragnow - C/G
3a. DJ Moore - WR
3b. Lorenzo Carer - SAM/LEO

FA may be a bit ambitious but would love to get day 1/2 draft similar to that.

Curious about James Washington’s measurables at the combine. Watched him a lot at Ok St. and he was a beast but he just had a weird look to his body. For a fast guy he looks like a tank. Might be due to smaller shoulder pads. Wish I could’ve saw him against SEC defenses but I’m very intrigued.

Without knowing his stats I’m gonna guess he ends up being 6’1 215, 4.52 40, 35” vert and 23 bench reps.

Mel Kiper has Jones mocked in the first round. Think he had 4 backs in the 1st (Barkley, Guice, Michel, Jones)

The meat of this draft looks to be in the 2nd round. I wish we can find a trade partner so we can get an extra 2nd round pick.

Me too. There isn't a single guy I'm in love with who would be there at #9/10 but lots of talent that could be there at the top-mid 2nd.

It would be sad to see Jones go to a non zone scheme run system. Dude is perfect for it. Michel is pretty good fit as well.

That's fuking crazy. The guy is clearly fuked in the head and needs help somehow.

How with everything going on right now do you post that? Dude got arrested and rightfully so.

Also…curious to see what the Rams gave up in the Peters trade.

I wouldn't have minded if we made the trade but I'm hearing first rounder being thrown around which to me is crazy. Peters is a ballhawk but IMO dude is getting overrated because of those int numbers.

The guy got the benefit of joining the KC team with a great pass rush and on the decline of Peyton Manning's career. Nearly all of his best games came against mediocre QBs. Rivers and Carr are pretty good but they're also gunslingers.

Will be very curious to see how he does with the Rams but if the trade value is anywhere close to what's being reported I'm very glad we didn't bite.

Sign Kyle Fuller in free agency and draft a couple of corners in the draft and we're good.

I'm still pissed that this whole Foster ordeal puts us in a weird place. Honestly I'm all for trading down and getting an extra 2nd rounder.

Damn don't like hearing that Ansah is likely to get tagged or resigned by Lions. It sounded like Rams weren't going to cut Robert Quinn and with Ansah off the table the FA class for pass rushers blows. Not good considering that's one of our biggest needs on defense and the fact that this draft is weak at pass rush.

Harold Landry comes back into play early now. Though maybe not signing Ansah is for the best. See if we can strike lighting in a bottle with Landry or another pass rush specialist who may not play Leo all the time later in the draft.

I still really like Lorenzo Carter as a rusher in obvious pass downs and having him play Sam in base though.

Jags were supposed to tag AR15 like a week ago and now with the Bortles extension I’m thinking it’s unlikely. 🙏

Deadline isn't for a week or two I think so they still may.

I don't think this WR class is stacked at the top but it's actually a pretty good group overall. If we do sign Robinson or Watkins I hope we still draft a WR in this class. Ditto RB in this class.

Was hoping we can sign a Leo in free agency cuz this class isn't super deep(next years class will have some quality at the top)

I have my favorites and still looking over some other guys but will wait to see what happens with combine before doing a full mock since draft stock right now is so hard to predict. I usually use cbs prospect rankings to keep myself honest but I hate their rankings and they're missing a ton of prospects and don't have round grades like they used to.

They actually created more cap room to sign him. lol

Bortles number for next year by 9 million I believe.

I would've liked Robinson but if the Jags tag him I won't lose any sleep over it.

More bummed out about Ansah likely getting tagged and Rams not cutting Robert Quinn. I really wanted to add a legit leo player in FA so we wouldn't have to go into the draft with a huge hole in a weak area in that draft class.

Damn, it did.

Been seeing articles that they’re expecting to franchise/resign him but it still hasn’t happened so I’m holding out hope.

Really hope we get Norwell. We have so much cap space I want to see us really go for it all next year.
