WTF? So the cap for this year is 177m then we add in the unsused money from last year. Hell ya! I expect to see some FA signings.
It really is crazy that we are going from 0-9 to a couple pieces away from people talking Super Bowl.

Feels like it’s bwen forever since we went into the offseason not wondering about either our GM, HC or QB.

My body is ready for huge FA splashes.

Matt Miller put out a 7 round mock.

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2...s-post-combine

I wouldn't hate it but I'd certainly opt to go in another direction….going to try not to pick and chose who he has available but going off who he has available at each of our picks I'd go

1. Harold Landry
2. Frank Ragnow
3. Braden Smith
3b. Rashaad Penny
4. Tarvarus McFadden(I would sure as chit try to move up to get Quenton Meeks who only went a few picks prior to our 4th in this mock)
5. Fred Warner
6. Equanimeous St. Brown - wtf…not sure what Miller is thinking having him here
7. Joe Ostman
7b. Jeremy Reaves

C o o lin Cowherd, who is friends with John Lynch, kept saying today that the 49ers “badly” want Denzel Ward.

I'd love to have Ward. Dude is a baller. I wish he was taller but he makes up for it.

Landry is legit IMO. His numbers were Vic Beasley like. If he plays anywhere near that level he'd certainly be worth the pick.

I was just doing a mock earlier in my head where we traded back with Buffalo and took him at 21.

If we can trade down and still draft him you know i'm fuking happy as hell.

Would LOVE to pick up a top 15 2nd rounder in a move down to target James Daniels or Ronald Jones.

With Fuller getting the tag and Norwell being a “done deal” to NYG I think we have to land AR15 now.

Josh Sitton would be a nice plan B at guard. OLB Nigel Bradham seems like a good fit for us. 28 years old and ranked above average on PFF. Gives us playoff experience as well. We could get all of these guys and Trumaine Johnson and front load these contracts and still be sitting fine in cap space.

John Lynch sounds pumped up for free agency.

If Norwell is a done deal for Giants then I agree, I'd love those free agency moves.

Trumaine Johnson at corner
Allen Robinson at WR
Nigel Bradham at LB
Josh Sitton at OG

Would be pretty damn great. Maybe sign Aaron Colvin at corner as well and really ensure our secondary is way better.

Obviously leaves a glaring hole at pass rush which is why I have my eyes on Landry in the draft.

Yep I’m all on board with this. Idk how you feel about Davenport but I’d be fine with him if we traded back and someone took Landry before us.

Still need a running back. Fortunately they seem to grow on trees.

I'm not a huge fan of Davenport only because I think he's a project and I'd want someone who can contribute right away. But if he's the pick then i'll hope he's the better version of JPP.

Sounds like Richard Sherman may have been cut.

I'd sign him but don't see him being the same after the injury. Doubt he'd take a low ball offer too.

I'd sign him too. He's past his prime but he'd be an upgrade over Donte Johnson for sure.

Honestly I wish they kept that defense together just so Jimmy G could take them at their best.

This x1000.

I’m going to ignore you guys saying you’d sign Sherman. Do we get Earl Thomas too? If not, hard pass. He would look disgusting in a 49er uniform. Hope he goes to the Raiders to see the Crabtree/Sherm awkwardness lol.

Going out for drinks tonight. Bye Seattle!

Yeah that would have been sweet. But I guess Jimmy Gorgeous just kicking their teeth in as is will still be a lot of fun.

By the way I love reading your posts here. I get a crash course on what I need to know about the draft since I don't follow all that stuff.

Sherman makes a lot of sense…if the price is right.

He's a big mouth but the guy knows football and he's an expert in this scheme.

I'm not talking about bringing him in as the only corner…no fuking way. I'd only want him if we already signed someone like Johnson/Fuller/etc and drafted another corner in the draft to develop and sign Sherman for a short/fair deal.

The guy is coming off a huge injury for corners. Honestly I'd want him only for his experience and having him as a coach on the field.

I'd take Sherman for that veteran leadership too. As for an actual CB, i'd take Trumaine.

Towards the end of the season he really showed up. Great signing and overall doesn't seem like it isn't all much money.

I would hope not…totally different player. I think the way it was after next year really Garcon nor Goodwin were under contract. People forget Garcon had a neck injury. It may not have looked as bad but it's a neck injury…no matter how small those are always serious.

Signing AR15 would be huge and make our receiver group super well rounded and strong. Goodwin making defenses respect the deep game. Robinson, Garcon, Taylor, TEs and RBs tapping that ass all over the place.

I can't wait to see what we do. I wasn't a huge fan of Trumaine Johnson but with Fuller getting the transition tag from the Bears I think TJ has to be our #1 target. I'd still want Fuller but we can't go to him #1 because the Bears have a few days to match and can just burn us by taking their time as TJ and other corners are signed by other teams and then still come back and match his contract as we're left holding our dicks.

I also want to see how free agency goes down to help make the draft easier to predict. Granted just because we address corner doesn't mean we don't draft corner early and clearly there are no legit pass rushing FAs out there which makes me think pass rush has to be our early pick.

But as the draft gets closer I'm starting to really fall in love with 5 players for us. If we could find a way to get 2 or more of these guys I'd be happy as a pig in chit.

They are

Harold Landry
Denzel Ward
Jaire Alexander
James Daniels
Ronald Jones

Ward and Alexander are definitely shorter than I'd like but those fukers can cover. Daniels and Jones are perfect scheme fits and Landry IMO is the best immediate pass rusher available.

I think with Jimmy G on board we can't be taking big project/development players with #9. That's why I'm not so high on Davenport. At his worst Landry may end up being a one trick pony but that one trick will still bring pass rush to a defense that badly needs it.

Funny I remember the Von Miller naysayers saying he was a one trick pony. “All his sacks come from going around the outside. Won’t work in the NFL.”

Landry is athletic and has a knack for getting to the QB. If he has the work ethic he’ll be good.

Landry and Ward are my ideal two at 9 assuming Nelson, Fitzpatrick, Barkley and Chubb are gone.

Saw this video of Landry posted and I thought it was a great watch and made him look really good.

https://youtu.be/CIwDSiBnEJQ

Of course it could be an act and good coaching by the agents but I think he was sincere and his actions indicate he was honest.

What I got from that interview

Kid shows loyalty - stayed with BC since they were the first to give him a letter despite bigger schools giving him letters down the road.
Shows he's not just looking to cash in from the NFL and party by staying to get his degree
Shows he works at his craft - great to hear the bend didn't come natural…because if he can make it LOOK that natural with work I'm excited to see what else he can do with work.
Shows he's already working on improving his pass rush ability so he's not a one trick pony.
