It can’t be. That deal has to be heavily incentive based.

I don't really see how this can be that much of a negative, especially considering how bad we've been as a team the past few years. Sure, nobody that's a 49ers fan really likes him as a person, but it could be a good move for the team.

The childish part of me is saying no because of the rivalry. The logical part of me is saying no because of the injury. I'm willing to forego the former if the latter is sound and the front office knows what they're doing. It's like I'm horny but the only video available is of porn star who just died.

Richard Sherman’s deal includes a $5M signing bonus, plus $2M base salary, $2M in 46-man roster bonuses, $1M playtime incentive and $3M Pro Bowl incentive in 2018. So #49ers get protection, and Sherman gets upside to beat his #Seahawks deal if he plays well. Win-win.

For the guys who don't like the deal…you're thinking with your hearts and not your head.

The deal is super incentive based and as 49er fans we better hope he makes all of that money. If he does we just got a pro bowl corner that's a perfect fit for this team.

At worst he can help our young corners learn this scheme and drop some knowledge for the defense.

Don't let his antics with Seattle cloud your judgement. I hate this dude just as much as you do but his abilities as a corner cannot be denied. It's a smart deal.

Honestly…everyone better hope he gets ALL that money. It will be the best thing for the team

To get the full $39.15 million, Sherman will need to play all 48 regular-season games over the next three years, be on the field for at least 90 percent of the snaps, make it to the Pro Bowl every year, and qualify for the All-Pro team every year.

Only $3 mil is guaranteed.

At worst we cut him before the regular season lose $3 million or so but gain all the knowledge he would drop on the other players in this scheme before that. Well worth it IMO.

“The 49ers still have plenty of cap space and are prepared to spend. Expect them to land at least one more big-ticket item this week at the onset of free agency – specifically, receiver Allen Robinson, who is among the most sought-after players in a largely weak free-agent class. And how do you think Dion Lewis, the best available option at running back, would look in that backfield as a replacement for oft-injured free agent Carlos Hyde?

“There will be ample competition for Robinson – the Bears and Browns are among those hot after him, I’m told (while teams like the Ravens and Panthers have some interest but have cap constraints they are fighting against). And the Jaguars would love to keep him.”

But honestly if Robinson signs with Chicago or the Browns over the 49ers given the trajectory of these teams and their QBs and playcallers then he's an idiot.

He should be thinking of setting himself up to a chance to not only win games and maybe a SB but also to sign another big deal a few years from now when he's a free agent again.

No disrespect to Mitch Trubisky since technically he has more starting experience than Garoppolo but if you're a WR who are you more excited about playing with?

As far as Head Coaches and coordinators??

Once again…no disrespect to Naggy I know he's a well though of coach and one who is up and coming but he has 1 year of offensive coordinator experience. This is going to be his first HC gig. Kyle was a first time HC as well but he had a hell of a lot of coordinator experience, his father was a HC of many years and he at the very least showed that he can keep a team together and definitely get production from his offense.

It's a no brainer if I'm Robinson IMO. Unless the Bears are giving him an extra $2-4 million per season I don't understand how he can pick the Bears. I'm sure nothing needs to be said about Cleveland. He goes there he's just chasing the money which is fine but not smart.

Free agency is here boys!!!

That said, I don't mean to be Debbie Downer but I don't think we get Allen Robinson. I think our big splashes will be another mid tier cornerback for depth, OL and LB.

Sherman is a terrible signing simply because he's been garbage for 3 years now and just tore an achilles. I don't care about him personally, but he's a trash player at this stage of his career. Hope he gets cut in training camp.

Ya'll are interested in Dion Lewis. Is he a good fit for your system? I'd love to see him back in New England, but his price tag is too much and RBs are all over the place this off season.

But Robinson also said he wouldn’t rule out a multiyear deal to return to the Jaguars and also had good things to say about the 49ers. He said San Francisco would “most definitely” be an intriguing destination given the team’s reboot under coach Kyle Shanahan and quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.

“Like you said, that’s a team that is for sure moving in the right direction,” Robinson said. “They have some of the things Chicago has when it comes to a quarterback, an offensive-minded head coach, a football city and tradition. There are so many good situations out there. I just have to narrow it down and pick the best one.”
Go. Get. This. Man.

Looks like Bears got ar15. Too bad. Maybe Josh Gordon next year? lol

I also like D.J. Moore a lot in this draft. He reminds me a bit of Odell / Amari.

No Norwell, no Robinson….lynch wasn’t kidding, we will grab lesser mid tier players I guess.

Still not crazy we have broke down Sherman. I wanted one of the two to make it easier to digest.

Edit: Norwell deal…no thanks. Serious money.

Bummer not getting Robinson or Norwell but yeah…at those contracts you have to figure we just didn't feel the player was worth it.

Norwell while a stud wasn't a perfect fit in ZBS and is a better power guy(though he would've been more than just fine) but if you're paying top G money you want a guy you know would be a perfect scheme fit on top of it.

Robinson is still coming off an ACL injury and you just never know. It's one thing to give Sherman that contract where he basically has to be an elite corner to make elite corner money or he gets a very modest payday and it's another to have a WR who's getting $25 mil guaranteed and $13 a year or whatever it was.

Will be curious how that goes with Trubisky. Would be pretty funny if he essentially walked into another Bortles situation and his value is crap a few years from now.

Also holy fuk at Sammy Watkins' deal…$16 per? That's nuts. That dude hasn't really done chit.

Seriously a joke of an off-season so far. Why are we sitting here with our dicks up our asses? We have money to spend and we’re ready to win. I can understand not giving Norwell that contract (also lol at him to Giants was a “done deal”) but 3 years, 42 mil for one of our weakest positions? For a 24 year old receiver that has proven he can be a monster with Blake fukking Bortles. A guy that is a good guy and a hard worker by all accounts. Did we not remember that even though Jimmy G completely changed the landscape of our offense, that our red zone offense still sucked. You know why? Cuz all of our receivers are small and they mostly suck. Oh, we got Garçon coming back. We’re just assuming a 32 year old coming off of a neck injury is gonna be the guy. He’s still not a red zone threat. You can say Goodwin and Garçon are fine players but let’s not forget that behind them it’s fukking atrocious. Goodwin should be the third guy. He should be the guy that has to step up if Garçon or AR15 were to get hurt again.

I don’t get it. What’s the plan with that money? To look cool and say we have a cheap team in playoff contention? Or are we about to overpay a bunch of mid and low tier players? Because where the fuk else is that money going to go??

Meh…I definitely would've liked Robinson but at the end of the day he's still coming off an ACL so there is risk.

I also think they felt pretty good about their WR.

As I type this they signed Weston Richburg…pretty good player if he stays healthy and someone I liked a lot coming out in his draft class. Competition at C and G. Good signing.

Back to Robinson though…this draft class has some quality WRs that I think we can target in the 2nd or 3rd round. Lots of big redzone target guys. I'd rather we be smart with our money and keep ourselves in good cap shape. It will make it easier to retain our own guys and also allow us to go in heavy when a legit FA at a position of need becomes available.

That contract he got won’t even put a dent in our cap space.

ACL injuries aren’t scary like they used to be. Players are always coming back like new.

And I am fukking concerned with the FO if they think we’re fine at receiver.

Don’t tell me you’re worried about a 24 year old who suffered an ACL tear week 1 and not worried about a 30 year old corner that ruptured one achillies and had surgery on the other one.

Guarantee when we’re done with this offseason we’ll look back and say, wow we could’ve still had AR15.

You know I was all about Robinson coming here but you saw what Jimmy did with a weak OL and weak WRs.

Get Garcon back healthy. Draft someone like Ateman or St Brown and we have our redzone threat. We'll see if it was a bad decision or not to not pay him.

I’ll feel better if we land all of these players:

OG Josh Sutton
OLB Nigel Bradham
WR Tyrell Williams (or any decent receiver that isn’t tiny (Moncrief, Matthews, Decker, Lee)
RB Dion Lewis
TE Trey Burton

Doubt we'll be signing Sitton after signing Richburg but we'll see.

Also pretty sure Tyrell Williams was tagged with a 2nd round tender by SD so no thanks on giving up the 2nd rounder to sign him.

You’re right, nvm.

Idk anything about Richburg. Rated out as an average center on PFF. Gotta be better than Kilgore though. Sitton is 31 and still good. If we can get him for a relatively cheap 3 year deal let’s do it. We could actually have a legit good line.

Richburg is good. I believe Giants ran a power scheme and he's on the lighter side which suits the zone blocking scheme better. he's better than Kilgore, Fusco, Tomlinson so whoever he replaces we upgraded.

We are definitely going the “we are smarter than you” route. Hope it works out…tremendous amount of pressure on jimmy if we basically stroll into next year with Garçon as number 1 (likely) and Lewis as the new “upgrade” at RB.

I will try to remain optimistic. This time two months ago you told me we missed on some of these guys and got Sherman, I would have thought Jed back to his old tricks

I was looking so forward to this off-season. So much money. Top players at positions of need. AR15 made so much sense. And he would’ve gladly signed with us.

Now here we are with Richard fukking Sherman and a center that missed an entire season because of a concussion. So depressed right now.
