Liking that 2nd one.
How are you finding the R6? What did you shoot with before that?

I love Canon and its ergonomics and menu system . I had a Nikon and a Sony in my hand at the Camera store, but once I held the Canon it was a clear winner comfort wise . Almost like when you find that perfect glove .
Anyways I had an old Fuji XT1 before this and decided to sell it . I should have kept it for a hiking camera , as I’m finding the Canon is too much to pack .
I recently purchased canons 24-105mm 4FL in order to shave some weight , as all their 2.8 glass is fairly heavy , and I feel it puts you back in DSLR territory again weight wise .
But imo it’s still kinda heavy and bulky for hiking, but then again I’m old lol .
I had a Nikon D800 and most of the 2.8 glass , and sold it while there was a still a market for it .
But for the most part I’m really liking the Canon R6 . I wouldn’t mind having the R5 somedays with the extra megapixels, but they would only be needed if you wanted to blow something up to poster size, or if you do a lot of cropping , which you shouldn’t have to do often anyways .
I don’t know how other brands work, but with canons high end glass they have an extra ring that you can configure to what you prefer .
I find it’s handy for changing the focus points on the fly , cool feature tbh

I can't afford any of the new stuff. Leaning mostly towards wildlife and within that I'd like the capacity to take good portraits the most. For this and with my budget, I might go for an older Tokina 300 2.8, and could upgrade camera later to D850 (thinking portraits of larger mammals etc). But then for more distant subjects I am tempted by the D500 with its better AF etc, but discovered the R7 and how it's not that expensive second hand with its animal tracking and so on and canon seem too have some nice lenses at reasonable prices second hand as well. So many options, not enough money.

Edit , I just found Stacy’s site . All pics taken with the D810 I believe .

All I know is that my number of keepers is pretty low, and people praise the upgraded system in the D850 and D500.

Haven't really tried much landscape yet, but it is supposed to be great for that and had bonus flight points to use so booked a trip to scenic Faroe Islands for next August. Should be able to get some good practice there and if lucky get some shots of orcas as well.

I’m amazed at how well he got Crowsnest mountain , where we used to live . It’s under a 2 hour drive from my place , so maybe I’ll go for photo shoot there next spring
This is 10 minute drive from where I used to live. I’ve gotta ask him where he was standing to get this pic , as I don’t think it’s far off the main hwy.
Imo he should have used a polarizer on this shot, but pretty good regardless

If I order the Sony A7IV will I regret it? I shot with a Nikon D750 years ago. But I got out of photography. I'm working on getting back into it. I have spent a lot of research and the A7IV is sticking out to me. I don't really do anything video related. Can you show me some images from your A7IV ? I was looking into the A7V and I don't think it would work for me. The low light isn't all that great.
I want to start shooting,
real estate
landscape
car shows.
night street photography/astrology
macro
portraits

Tried a free thumnail photo viewer for raw files recommended on a photo forum. Think it was great compared to what I had before. I had to change some things in the settings, like zooming in with wheel and arrows for back and forth, but then it was great. It loads up the entire selected folder at once (takes about a minute), but after that it is much faster (almost instant) to scroll through the pics. Pic info below thumbnails as well so no need to right click each one you wonder about. Wanted to share if could help someone.

A few pics from yesterday. First time properly out with the new D850 and the new second hand Sigma 500/4.5. Really happy overall and feel I'm getting to where I'd like to be in terms of gear and what it can do. Now it's just up to me to do the rest and get better. The cubs were in poor light/shade, but so cute I had to include em. Might post some more in the coming days.

Was lucky to get these today, as they are true wildlife unlike most shots I have so far in parks. It was after sunset and wide open at f4, iso is still around 25k or so, but the D850 still gave me something to work with, even though one can't expect much like this.
I was higher up looking for some shots over part of the city (Gothenburg) in the sunset light and heard leaves and brushes making noises behind me. Turned around and got a few short moments with these guys.
An older lady came over with her smartphone camera as she saw I had something in my sights. We ended up having a longer conversation as she had many years of photo experience and recognized my Nikon right away. Turns out she lived close by and was able to give me advice on the best spots for squirrels which I always wondered about. Good day.

So, went to the dog fair/ehibition here in Gothenburg (1st day of 4).
https://en.mydog.se/
Good practice for me since indoors which presents some new challanges. Used the really old 180/f2.8 (late 90's) and nikon D850. Needless to say it's low light, then the artificial light makes it tricky as it (conditions) change from one spot to another quite drastically. I have so many pictures, so just posting the first ones I worked on. Been at it since 7 in the morning and is now about 8 pm over here. Good night all.
