Had a fun one last weekend. It's getting ****in hot.

I left with an Aimpoint PRO for new AR. And a couple hundred rounds of 5.56 since it was $10 a box.
Scheels is seriously the best store ever. Their selection of pretty much everything in store is second to none. I was looking at some ski specific jackets earlier this winter. I live in a big ski town. I called 10 different ski shops, none of them had what I was looking for. Scheels didn't even cross my mind until I struck out at all of the shops. Sure enough, they had every variation of that jacket lol.

It was a lot of fun and just allowed you to shoot in a much different manner on the same public range you might have been to before… expect now you're down range running and gunning.
Anyone know of similar type of competitions as those but for rifle (AR)?

That guy is using the weirdest spoon I've ever seen.

I didn't buy a $500 safe to keep out a determined burglar or a safe cracking expert. I bought it to provide some level of protection. I'm not going to buy a $4k+ metric ton safe to haul into my 1 bedroom apt in the middle of a complex to keep 5k worth of guns and ammo safe.

I was joking about the spoon. I'd actually need a claw hammer. Which I'm pretty sure exists in the tool box of every home someone is gonna break into.

I realize nobody takes it seriously, but I talk to clients who have had stuff stolen all the time. Including tons of stuff from box store quality safes. Often, the entire safe itself is gone- bolting it to studs or (god forbid) drywall anchors won't even slow down someone with a crowbar. Most of the time it's jewelry or other crap that I'm dealing with, but it's also been guns on plenty of occasions.

I'm not talking about safecrackers or determined thrives. I'm talking about the kind of smash-and-grab guys that rip the TV off the wall and get into everything by hitting it with something.

I'm dead serious when I say that consumer level safes are only useful against children or people who care about not breaking things. Stuff like Sturdy or the Amsec safes are the bare minimum to stop the average person who is gonna be in your house uninvited. If you're worried about "determined" burglars, you're looking at TL-rated safes I haven't even discussed.

How many of them had a monitored home alarm that went off as soon as the perimeter was breached, as well as a safe/RSC that other people didn't know was there in the first place (had to be found by chance after breaking in and setting off the alarm), that was bolted down in a corner?

Went to local gun store to look at a Springfield 1911 Ronin they had on sale… ending up leaving with a Tisas 1911 in 9mm. $470. Everything I've seen about the Tisas guns seems good for the price. Forged parts. Honestly, just feeling the gun out for movement in the slide, the Tisas seemed to have less than the Springfield.

Not my pic, but looks the same.

Also ran 260 rounds through my new PSA Sabre, and it was all good. Mixed brands and some steel stuff. No issues.

While I'm a Springfield 1911 fanboy, I hope your 1911 works well for you. A lot of of cheaper 1911's seem to work well enough anyway since supposedly some just copy the colt designs. I do like the rail and raised sights on that. It seems to offer some nice perks at that price point. Shame about not having two world wars power though. LOL

Thanks for letting us know about your Sabre, glad it's working well.

Got a Streamlight ProTac HL-X w/ pressure pad for around $100 and mounted it with a Cloud Defensive LCS: https://www.clouddefensive.com/product/lcs-streamlight/

Super clean and simple. Very bright, and didn't feel like spending hundreds on the light alone for a SureFire.

anyone have experience with the REIN OWL? Looks like its on its final batch run but looks fantastic on paper. This batch puts out 1200 Lum and 80,000 candela. All 1 piece unit so no wires. Also have double the waterproof (up to 200ft) It's very tempting design at $20 cheaper

nvm….looks like all their colors are OOS.

What’s your guys opinion on the high candela but less “flood” meaning the light is so focused on the target, which is good, but it gives less information on your surroundings.

Is there a happy medium to look for?

What’s your guys opinion on the high candela but less “flood” meaning the light is so focused on the target, which is good, but it gives less information on your surroundings.

Is there a happy medium to look for?
I prefer a long throw with higher lumens because any spill you have will be more clear. I went from a TLR2 to an X300 and they had decent output but the throw was like a 3D maglite and the flood made the output even less. After going to my Rein i wont look back.

That being said i know arisakas are modular with different heads for different throws but ive never played with em personally

nvm….looks like all their colors are OOS.
The OWL has been completely discontinued. They haven't said definitively yet, but they made it seem like that light is dead. People were speculating they might do an OWL 2.0, but CD sort of dismissed that. Never say never, though.

IIRC, the Rein 2 came out in early 2022. The 3 came out almost a year later. Quick for sure, but not quite three months lol. From what I've read (and I follow them regularly) they are sticking with the 3 for some time. That being said, I wouldn't wait for the next gen to come out. Not saying you are, just speaking generally here. I have two Rein 2s and have no intention of "upgrading" them. They're awesome lights and if price was a concern I'd honestly snag a used 2 over a new 3.

yea but I don't think they had the OWL anyway. Reached out and I just got a reply that said when they do runs they sell out quick. So that doesnt make it sound like they aren' t making them anymore. I mean…..if something sells out that quick logic says…..keep making them. There is demand
