The one thing I was hoping for was making Suh play the nose at times and him becoming frustrated/team problem

I'm curious what their plan is. Donald and Suh are very similar players. Do they play them at positions that don't accentuate their talent just to get them on the field? Do they rotate them? Can definitely lead to some butthurt for one of them. Plus you have Brockers out there too. They may use him as the NT and have Suh and Donald play 3-4 DE. Very interesting.

That's what I was thinking, Brockers as NT with Suh and Donald at DE. Brockers doesn't have the protypical body as a NT in a 3-4. But to be honest, under half their snaps will be in their base package anyways

That’s said and done. STL is putting a better team out there, and not by a little bit. They have game breakers.

Outside of that. Shanahan is playing 4d chess and I love it. I don’t think he gets anything out of Williams, but he’s trying to get the most….which I think gets Breida taking his game to the next level.

Shanahan is an absolute blessing. It’s early and it could go harbaugh considering the ego concerns…it’s like a perfect blend of harbaugh and kelly, which makes me think it’s destiny.

Drunk from the pelicans game.

It’d be awesome if somewhere Garnett can play this year and at the very least be solid.

I’m still baffled we haven’t done anything at the receiver position. It is not a good WR corps. Period. Still pissed we didn’t get Robinson. I’d be much more optimistic if we did.

I agree but I'm willing to give Kyle a pass.

He's shown that if he sees a player who he considers a must have to get his offense to another level he goes after them regardless if it's a popular opinion or not.

We saw it last year with paying Juice all that money and we saw it this free agency with Richburg and McKinnon.

He wanted them and wouldn't be outbid. So the fact that it seems we didn't even make an offer to Robinson means he wasn't super excited about him.

I'll be very curious to see if we address WR in the draft. Lots of options in the middle rounds with some big targets available.

Hopefully Garnett steps up and not only wins one of the guard jobs but plays very well there. I'd love to land Braden Smith in the 2nd/3rd round to fight for the other spot.

Didn't I see where Kyle basically stated the team shouldn't be throwing out max contracts to average WRs when he was asked about why the Niners didn't bring in a top free agent WR.

I'm thinking the team is really high on Kendrick Bourne. I was rooting for him when he had a shot to make the 53 last year and he did have a small impact towards the end of the season.

Bourne showed some nice things last year. Excited to see what he can do with more time in the offense. A rookie undrafted free agent in a scheme this complicated who couldn't even practice due to the stupid graduation rules is pretty impressive.

I'm pretty excited about this WR class too. I think we can find some potential steals on day 3 if we don't target WR early.

Here are guys I'd like to see here

I'm hoping Richburg will be our Alex Mack…he may not be as talented but hopefully he comes close.

Also seeing people starting to climb on board with the Harold Landry going earlier talk. He's easily in the lead for me at 9 for us. Roquan Smith is my 2nd choice with a good sized gap after him.

IMO we draft Landry if we have him graded as high as I have him and want to address Leo. We take Smith if his grade is much higher or they think they can draft an ok Leo prospect later and Smith's ability to cover is too good to pass up from LB.

I'm a bit nervous we could fall for Edmunds and his potential to be a hybrid but hope it's between Landry or Smith or trade down.

Sign me up. 3rd round pick at most though. Gronk is a beast but we all know he has trouble staying healthy and wants a new deal soon.

However he and Kittle would be fuking BEASTS in this offense.

We'd have the sickest 22 personnel group out there by far.

We'll see how it turns out for them. They traded a 2nd rounder for Watkins and then couldn't even keep him. May end up having another one year rental in Cooks but for a first rounder this time.

All the pressure is on the Rams to win this year. I'd love to see us take the division from them as their dream team underperformed with the sky high expectations.

Some guy that thought “card” needed to be capitalized.

Seriously though, I’d be fine with Ward but what really bothers me is (if this is true) Lynch needs to shut up. He’s not in the media anymore. Quit letting things leak.

We'll see what happens but I don't think anything really leaked from what we really wanted last year. The Rueben Foster love was out there but nothing in regards to Solomon or any of the other guys we drafted.

I'm hoping it's more smoke screen and us going after Landry. He makes so much sense to me I'm hoping he's the guy and if not Roquan Smith, Ward would be my 3rd choice….assuming of cpurse Nelson is off the board.

Just don't want Tremaine Edmunds or Marcus Davenport or either of the two safeties.

Well they clearly weren’t in love with Thomas and then he went out and told the whole story about the Garoppolo trade and then we heard about how they really wanted Cousins until Jimmy G played like 3 games.

Just keep it buttoned up, dude. Nothing good comes out of telling everyone everything behind the scenes.

I'll make room bro. Would be thrilled with any of those 3.

The guys who will bum be out are

Davenport - too raw, not a great fit at Leo IMO
Edmunds - too raw, great talent but lots of out of position bad read plays that lead to huge plays when guys play out of scheme
Fitzpatrick - love the player but even at corner or safety he's putting a good player on the bench
James - same as Minkah. Don't want safety in the first.

Arden Key I wouldn't touch til day 3…maybe take him off the board all together. He's the Joe Williams on defense.

i like Landry and Edmunds. I dont think we need Edmunds as much as we need an Edge rusher tho. It'd be a gamble drafting him and trying to develop him into an edge player. He's got gobs of potential tho.

Only knock on Davenport is that he went to UTSA.

I'd be ok with trading down TBH, and still being able to grab Landry or Davenport. But yes, i dont see Safety as a need, at all.

I have a strange feeling D Ward is who we will be picking. He's probably #5 on my list but just based on who we currently have on the roster we literally have no one behind Sherman and Witherspoon.

I'm good Gene, just took a little break from the misc, but you know when it comes to the Niners, i love this place.

I think Edmunds is boom or good. At worst he's a rangy ILB. At best…we move can him around and have an Urlacher in the middle or a Suggs on the edge.

We do still have a lot of holes, but i think we can grab a DB and WR in the later rounds. We need an EDGE player and Edmunds isnt that guy yet, i'm just so intrigued by his potential.

I would be just as happy with Landry tho. I think his Junior season speaks for itself. He had a down senior yr cuz of injury, he can be a double digit sack guy in the NFL.

We should be looking at an edge player early since those guys are rarely found outside of the first 2 rounds. OT that we can groom to take over for Staley/Brown in 2 or 3. and i think we can find another long armed DB that we can bring along like we did Akhello.

I'm sure Shanny also has some WR/RB in the later rounds that fit his scheme.

I'm so excited for the season to start, and then i remember its only April…

Don't blame you for taking a break from this place lol but always good to have old school 49er bros in here posting. We've lost a few over the years but maybe Jimmy G will bring some back.

Edmunds to me is similar to Jamie Collins - elite talent, makes some jaw dropping highlight plays but also someone who worries me in terms of instincts, recognition and playing within the scheme. It may seem weird coming from me since I was the biggest Kap fan but he reminds me of the LB version of Kap. Elite talent, can make great plays but slow in what he sees. Took me a while to admit that while Kap wasn't stupid and knew X's and O's but on the field he just couldn't process what he was seeing as fast as he needed to and it limited his ability to play QB.

Edmunds scares me because despite being really young and talented I hate the idea that his weakness is essentially being a smart football player. Can he develop and put the athletic ability with the mental game? Possibly but the fact that he's so far away I'm hoping another team takes him.

If we're not going Landry then Roquan Smith is my guy. He doesnt have the size of Edmunds and maybe not the potential but his ability to track the ball and get to him is crazy and he's great in coverage as well.

IMO today's offenses especially in the NFC West are moving to more RB heavy schemes but in the passing game. So you either have to make sure the QB can't get the ball out quick enough or keep those guys covered or stopped for short gains. And that's why it's Landry or Smith for me.

Used fanspeak to do a quick mock.

Would be pretty happy if it went down like this

I tried to not do any trades and while I would've rather wait to take WR later in the draft figured based on the board they had available Gallup was too good to pass up in the 3rd round. Ditto with Shepherd in the 4th. He may be overkill with who we have already but he's a legit DLman.
