I am guilty of buying every iPhone year lol. But what I do is I pre-order the flagship models ( 3-4 of them is the limit ) and I sell them on eBay for stupid prices. Last year I sold the 7 plus in that shiny black color for nearly 2.5x the price.

You are just brainwashed into thinking a phone is worth that much.

If everybody decided to buy a hamburger for 1k, the demanddoesnt mean it is worth 1k.
I have had the same Note 4 since 2014 and it is far from being used up.

First iphone i bought was when androids raised their prices to match. I was like "why even bother now". Never looked back. Then again I'm not gonna upgrade until this phone bites the dust.

i just came back from a 10 day road trip with the girlfriend and we stayed in NYC for 5 nights and also went to DC, Montreal, upstate NY and Massachusetts. Didn't spend more than $1.3k total and that includes the place we stayed at, food and gas.

Corporate greed is a thing, but not in the phone world. It has to do with consumer greed. The reason TVs and Laptop cost has decreased so much is because people buy one and keep them for YEARS. TVs can last 5-10 years before being outdated. Laptops 3-5. No one rushes to upgrade their TV or Laptop because society places no emphasis on having the newest TV or newest laptop.

Phones on the other hand are a status symbol, you upgrade not simply for features but also for status. Having the newest phone to show off is important to people. This drives prices way up.

I have no problem with phone companies charging 1K for phones. What I have a problem with is them removing useful features for no reason and not improving the quality of the devices. For 1k that screen should be entirely shatterproof. The battery should last 2 days. These are the things phone companies fail at.

For the money spent for "FaceID" Apple could likely have developed a battery that lasted 2-3 days for little more size and weight. Instead, they choose gimmicky ****. And people lose their minds over it. I blame simple minded retards

Just lmao at this quote. Economics not even once.

the price will be set at what the market can bear and what the company believes will net them the biggest margin

The company 100% would rather sell and market a $1k burger to 100 people who'll buy it than a $5 burger to 1000 people.

Op struggles with a few aspects of it.

There are a few groups of people:

1) the people that buy the newest phone when it comes out year in year out(like opie thinks everyone is)
2) the people that think fuk that and still have a phone that is phased out of tech already with updates etc(such as having an iphone 4 today for example)
3) the people that buy at reasonable times.

I like to think i am 3. In Oct i bought an iphone 7 after having a 5 for a few years. Why? Because the 5 was getting slow and tech just moved on as there were new things on the 7 that i could not do on the 5. I wont get into the debate of why an iphone because its been said, easier use and ios is awesome etcetc. I dont mind paying a few extra bucks because of whata been posted already itt.

Will i buy this new X? Absolutely not. Probably not even the one released next year. Why? Because the jump in technology wont be as dramatic most likely.
I can certainly afford it btw, but im not a sheep at the end of the day.

I dont think you quite understand what he is saying.

Of course in economics the price is whatever people are willing to pay. Hes saying that people are dumb as fuk and just because they want to pay that doesnt mean it actually gives that much in value. People drive the economy, but people are usually dumb as bricks

I honestly do about 2 hours of work and reading on my iPhone before even getting out of bed in the morning. To think that I'm only spending $1000 on a device that I will use an average of 3-4 hours every day for the next 2-3 years really sounds like a bargain.

Yup... Obviously if I'm going out for the night I cant do it but I'll always have one of those portable battery packs with me in my bag or if I'm driving I have the phone plugged in to charge. Also try to keep the screen at the lowest brightness possible (better for your eyes anyways). They also keep on making phones thinner and thinner which sometimes is nice but if they add an extra lets say 2 mm to the thickness of the phone to fit a slightly bigger battery they would get an extra hour or two of use out of the phone (looking at the battery on my phone its most likely just under 10 mm thick so that would be an extra 20% battery capacity)

I dont get why facial recognition is even a selling point. First off its stupid. Second that is a software update. I wasnt sure if Android had it or not but it looks like back in 2012 that was a feature built into Android already. lol

Wishful thinking gives me the idea that people would be turned off to the price hike and use their phones less. People will just shell out whatever it costs, broken down into monthly payments to help them feel better about the massive amount of money these cost. Unfortunately we are still going to have people walking around staring into their phones or looking down every second or so while they are driving. People are also going to drive two hours to pick up their phone that their manager took mistakenly. Lmao

I have a Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus. It's a great phone. To me, Apple has simply made an S8 of their own with a couple of extra features.

I like that the Samsung allows the use of a Micro SD card. Apple does not to my knowledge.

To eash their own. If people feel like this is worth $1k of their own money good for them. I wouldn't buy one for many reasons beyond the $1k selling price.

That is the point of the new ones. The camera gets improved with each new model. The latest ones are pretty damn good. To some people that doesn't matter, but to others it does.

for what its worth apple does something right from my last experience with an idevice which had ios 7 ,ios had the following advantages brain dead easy to use, very good software optimization, easy to get it repaired thanks to applecare and apple parts being easy to find

but the apple nuthuggers need to stop ios is outdated sure it has good optimization but man using ios feel like im back going back instead of forward, itunes is garbage ,build quality is questionable at best iphone 5/5s/6 use the same alluminium and bend exactly in the same spot, ios make you feel very caged even with jailbreak

the removal of the headphone jack didn't help with anything and no waterproofness isn't a argument the s7 edge has a headphone jack and is water proof also saying you should just get Bluetooth headphones cause you can't hear the difference just reeks of ignorance i should throw my DT 770s in the garbage cause apple thinks so ? no ty nibba im good

also saying that you can't hear the difference between bluetooth and wired is lulzy at best
