The real factor that determines outcomes is intelligence and drive. There are other factors such as your attitude that can take you places, up or down. Asians and Indians are very driven due to their culture. I live amongst a lot of them, my child went to school with him, so I know the parents well and they have their kids in math and Chinese school on the weekends. Whites, Black and Mexicans don't do that (in general).

There's a lot of pressure for the Asians to go to the top universities. You won't believe the number of high school kids with anxiety from this in my area.

I think I mentioned the Mexican culture doesn't put a lot of emphasis on going to college. Usually college-educated parents push their kids to go to college.

Just because I got hired 13 years ago before most of this DEI crap became instantiated in company policy doesn't mean it's not an issue today in 2024. It doesn't have to explicitly have stopped ME for it to be a problem. Furthermore, I have read our company DEI policies. It's definitely possible I've been kept from promotions due to being a white male. The last 3 people we hired were black. Our team is like 50% black which is a vast overrepresentation (if you believe representation should match the country, it should be 13% right?).

Also, maybe check into companies like Best Buy that explicitly don't hire white men, and don't promote them to promote "inclusion" and "equity". Or Home Depot that regularly holds diversity training to attack their white employees and accuse them of "privilege" (which is a Marxist tactic/term).

I actually have provided a lot of good insight about Asian and Indian cultures given I live with a number of them and many are friends.

I wouldn't say diversity training is to attack the white employees. I think most companies have to do it these days. It's hard to do it as you have to fit in watching the training video when there are 10,000 more things to do.

Plus the videos brings up the pronouns, which I have to be SO careful with the people who are transitioning. I'll be really careful in email but it's so hard in a meeting to slip up, especially if your worked with the person for years as a she, but now he.

Then they put you through scenarios so you know what's appropriate and what's not. I certainly don't want to offend anyone. I remember at another company I said, "Oh you're back from paternity leave" and he said "Actually it's New Parent Leave" and I kicked myself for offending him. No one says maternity or paternity leave anymore so I have to think before I talk.

I just looked up my numbers and White and Asian are nearly the same in my area, but there are only 3% blacks, so that's much lower than nationwide. Thus I'm not going to see 50% of my team being black.
