Well he'll be a FA after next year, other thing to note is Staley is older and maybe leaving sooner than later.

I'm hearing a lot about the trading Trent rumors, but I don't know why? Can someone tell me how much different of a player this Mike guy is, they're both huge RT so why would we be trading Trent for this guy, how different are they (scheme wise, athletically, etc)? I have no idea why we would even consider getting rid of Brown unless something wasn't going right with his injury rehab?

Only thing i can think of is trent doesnt fit the scheme. Not athletic enough.

i think the biggest thing is, he'll always struggle with his weight. and we're not gonna be able to keep him without paying a premium.

i dont hate the pick, i just think we could have tried to get a OT later like we did with Staley. either by trading down, or trading back into the 1st.

I heard that too. He is a big guy and may not be the best fit for us. Plus he will want money next year.

Apparently we did. I don't like the pick but I'm not going to pretend I know more than the coaches. I do think he's not LT material but if Brown is out of shape and not in our future it makes sense to protect the franchise. I would've liked to see us trade down but whatever…it's done.

I disagree about Miller though. McGlinchey is a much better prospect. I'll trust Kyle but damn…

Reading online that there are rumors that this pick is because of brown. Showed up to camp in horrible shape and are worried about his shoulder. Makes sense if that is true and the trade rumors. I guess we wait and see. Hopefully the team does something crazy later on.

Hopefully we can trade him to move up in the 2nd.

Surprised Landry is falling but I guess there are medical concerns. I'd still roll the dice on him like we did with Foster.

If we can trade Brown for Denver’s 2nd and get Landry with their pick and either Washington, Sutton, Miller, or Kirk at 59 I will be completely fine with this draft.

But at this moment I fukking hate this off-season.

No way I believe a team is going to give a second for Brown…injury concerns and the potential difficulty in contracting.

I’m just hoping McGlinchey turns into a beast who can eventually end up at LT.

Guess we are still doing the Lynch trust thing. I’m more on the Kyle and JG will make something happen while Lynch still figures out the GM position. Very odd they met with the guy only once, which was at the combine.

I tell you what I felt much better about the pick after seeing Oakland trade down with Arizona and take Kolton Miller.

I would be SO much more upset if we did the same move they did because clearly Oakland would've taken McGlinchey at 10 if we didn't or traded down with Arizona and in the process gave them Josh Rosen. They ended up getting him anyways but unfortunately for us I think Rosen is a stud and I wouldn't want to know we gave him to Arizona.

Apparently Landry has injury red flags, I wasn't aware of that but I'd still like to take him and hope we try to move up for him or someone like Isaiah Oliver. Lots of quality talent available though. Sucks we don't pick until 59.

After readings damn near every article out this morning (and not working), I feel much better. Seems it’s a Shanahan pick. I can also appreciate putting Brown on notice and other players that we don’t f around anymore. If you show up out of shape, you can be replaced. Good tone to set, along with how Foster is being handled. The team will be team first.

As soon as I saw the Oak pick, I knew they made the right decision by not trading down if that was truly the guy they wanted.

Everybody always feels better after reading articles. Idk why you guys even bother.

This has been a terrible off-season for us imo, and judging by everything you guys said prior to free agency and prior to the draft you’d agree with that. Except you convince yourself that all the moves are good after they happen.

In an offseason with a ton of cap space and the #9 overall pick we still don’t have any guards, our receiving corps sucks, no pass rush and our linebackers are awful knowing that Foster is dicey.

I really, really want to like Lynch. But outside of the Jimmy G trade, which was really lucky, he’s been very questionable at best.

Literally nobody mentioned tackle as a need this offseason and now all of a sudden it makes sense because Brown showed up overweight.

We aren’t getting anything good for Brown. My buddy claimed there were rumors about the Broncos giving us their second rounder for Brown. So I’m like why would they give us their second rounder for him? He says he’s one of the best right tackles in the league. So I said well then why don’t we just keep him lmao. Then he says he’s overweight and his contract is gonna be up.

Soooo why are they giving us a second rounder for him then lol

Nothing to do with the Broncos, but sometimes a change of scenery is what a player needs. Especially one with the talent but perhaps not the motivation, we’re in a rebuilding process, gotta have a certain mindset to put in the work everyday knowing it’s unlikely you are playing for anything at the end of the year.

I've been talking about grabbing a OT in this draft in preparation for Staley retiring, and if Brown isnt retained. My thought was to try to grab a guy later in the 1st, but looking at how things turned out, its obvious we needed to grab McG at 9. Oakland trading back was an obvious sign that they wanted him and we wouldn't have had a chance if we traded back. I like that they targeted him and made sure they got him. If they wanted to get cute and trade back, like i wanted, he would've been gone.

The 49ers are trading OT Trent Brown and pick number 143 overall to the Patriots in exchange for pick number 95 overall, sources tell @AdamSchefter and me. The deal is pending a physical.


Interesting to say the least? I wonder if they will work out any other trades to go down in the second?

I’ve said many times I don’t think Lynch has done much at all…and definitely not near enough to some of the praise he has received around the league and from fans.

I’m just saying, I like how we are running a no nonsense ship. That’s step on in the right direction and I completely trust Shanny can coach. He can overshadow Lynch’s role and hopefully it doesn’t come to a clash as Lynch has made it very apparent he loves he microphone and is the type of guy that requires pats on the back.

Considering the downward projection of Brown and knowing we weren’t going to pay him, grabbing a tackle makes some sense. Off loading him and acquiring a third may allow us to move up for someone we like in the second.

So Brown gone, I loved his potential but I guess they see similar in McGlinchey. Brown coming off injury, weight issues, and needing a big contract next year played into this move for sure. Thinking future is what this is about.

As of now we got 4 picks today which is solid value in a deep draft or ammunition to move up and go after someone we really want. The only thing I don't like about the trade is that guard was my most concerned position in the line and I guess they have faith in those guys or maybe gonna go after one later in the draft. I mean we did get Trent in the 7th, prolly Baalkes best pick overall.
