I gotta say the game yesterday took more wind out of my sails versus getting me even more hyped up for the season.

I'm not worried about Jimmy. Would've liked to see him make that throw to Kittle and the one throw to Goodwin a little lower but overall he played well and kept coming up big on 3rd down just like last year.

But if Kittle is out for a long period of time that really screws us. Celek is a good dude and everyone loves Celek Time but he's not the TE that Kittle is and George would be a key piece in the offense both as a blocker and pass catcher.

The OL wasn't awful but Jimmy was still getting hit. Really need them to get their chit together as week 1 it's going to be pro bowlers all over the place trying to kill Jimmy. Hopefully Cooper can get healthy and win the job so the 5 starters can put it together and gel.

Defense got a bit bullied, especially in the running game which isn't good to see. But I don't want to be the guy overreacting to preseason and the vanilla chit.

Really biggest issue was the injuries. We were doing good to start the camp but all of a sudden it's like a trauma unit out there. Linebackers are paper thin with Foster's suspension. Smith has a hammy injury, Warner dealing with the chest injury, Eli Harold even got beat up(how is he still on the team?)

I hope they keep him out of preseason at this point and let him get as close to 100% as he can before the Vikings game. We'll need him and while he's still young it sounds like he and Jimmy had good chemistry already. Shoulder injuries can linger too so get him as close to 100% as possible.

That is very true. I figure we will hear more about it later. I haven't had a chance to check on the other injuries yet.

Looks like breida has no damage either. Lucked out with him and Kittle. Shoulder see them week 1. Hopefully they are good to go by then.

So I missed the 2nd half of the game. I see Nick Mullens got the game winning drive but how did he look before that?

Did Pita , T Moore, and T McFadden have any impact?

One thing I don't get is why Dekota Watson getting valuable reps as a rush DE? He has 4 sacks since he came in the league 8 years ago!!! He seems like a cool dude but c'mon!!!

Moore is still raw but he kept good coverage from what I saw. Pita made some nice plays and was more noticeable than Eli Harold though of course he was playing with backups.

McFadden didn't stand out much to me but I don't remember him getting picked on too much.

I'm still confused by wtf Jimmy Ward did on that Gallup TD. I was watching it seeing the pay thinking he's got good coverage and suddenly he just stops and Gallup gets like 10 yards of separation for the easy TD.

3. He converted on 2 3rd and longs, one when getting hit.

I rewatched his pass attempts.

1st incompletion looked like it could've been high on purpose. Goodwin had the corner right on him before making the cut back to the ball. I think jimmy threw it high just in case the corner was still close. Your guy gets it or nobody does throw. Goodwin should've caught it.

2nd incompletion was a throw away IMO. Goodwin tripped in his route and I think Jimmy threw it away when he didn't see Goodwin where he expected him.

3rd incompletion was the long pass to Kittle. Those are low % throws anyways. Just a little out of reach.

Overall he played well. Not perfect but once again he showed his ability to show up on 3rd down. All 3 of his completions were on 3rd and long. Only one was short of the first down marker.

Running game did us no favors out there. I'm not worried about Jimmy. OL is my biggest concern right now.

RB Alfred Morris has been signed.



With the depth right now with two injured backs makes sense. Now the race for the final 3 will get very interesting. Morris played with Kyle in Washington.

Yeah definitely makes sense. I have to say the excitement for this season has definitely wavered a bit but I'm sure it will pick up week 1.

Mostly i'm excited to see where we stand and I think playing in Minnesota against that team will be a great barometer for where we are.

I'm not expecting a win but I hope we can put up a good show. A LOT has to go our way to have a chance to win.

1. We have to get and stay healthy for the game.

2. Have to keep their run game in check and at least pressure Cousins so he can't stand in the pocket and throw on time. Our secondary should be improved but Vikings receivers are legit and only way to stop their passing game is if the timing is off.

3. Our OL has to have a perfect game. Their DL is beast mode status and as good as Jimmy is if he's forced to throw on the run or not be able to set his feet and make non hurried throws it will not end well.

4. Goes along with the last thing but the running game has to be there. Can't allow that DL to just play pass all game long without fearing the run but it won't be easy…nobody really ran on that defense last year and they got better

Really wish we had Foster for this game as he'd be crucial in keeping Dalvin Cook contained and helping cover Kyle Rudolph.

Wish we could just fast forward to week 1 and get everyone banged up healthy.

Ward has to show he cares. He's in danger of missing the cut and is a strong trade candidate.

I liked seeing Watt and McGlinchey go at it. Obviously McGlinchey lost some but also won some.

Garcon, Goodwin, Taylor, Pettis, Bourne and James.

Imo Goodwin, Taylor and Pettis are locks.

Gonna have some tough cuts this year.

i keep reading good things about Burbridge too, but i think him being a previous regime guy prob means he'll be cut. Not a bad problem to have, having to cut talented guys.

I'm really hyped on the potential of this group. I think we have a good future with Goodwin, Dante, and Bourne.

Burbridge is really good on special teams too which gives him an edge but I'd hate to lose someone like Bourne or James who imo provide a better player long term over him.

There's no way James makes the PS.

We also have more talent on our roster this year. Might not have room for 6 WR’s. Not sure why we need James on the roster even though he’s been a nice TC surprise.

Because Garcon is done after this season. Young and cheap talent is worth keeping, especially when you have a young QB.

i can see Bourne or Pettis replacing Garcon. Goodwin will still be solid. Taylor and James are mostly slot guys, but i think James can play some on the outside. Should be a good mix of guys that can play multiple positions and provide depth.
