Just saw it, it actually wasn't bad, not mindblowing mind you, but it was alright. I was afraid that the guy playing Solo and Emilia Clarke, a subpar actress by all means would be bad, but they were actually doing ok.

Yeah there was that robosexual thing with Lando, and the 13 year old girl leading a band of warriors, but those weren't that overdone.

Han & Chewie dynamic was great.

Was actually a bit disappointed by Donald Glover's Lando, guy took a backseat for the whole ride, wasn't really essential to the mission and didn't accomplish much, he was just there and provided the team with the ship and his droid.

Probably won't watch it again, but all in all it was alright for a Saturday evening.

edit: Rio really seemed to be a cool and interesting guy, shame that he didn't get more screen time, same with Val, could have used more screentime, her death was absolutely pointless.

Only thing they should have done in TLJ was to give Luke a 10-15 minute scene where he goes all-out Jedi Master, and wipes the floor with the FO using the Force, then kicks the bucket in the end and hands over the torch to the new generation, and all the bullchit shenanigans would be glossed over.

But no, they just went full inclusive.

I am sure it is a mediocre movie. The point is that it was a movie nobody really wanted, and the backlash against it is more due to TLJ than Solo itself. On its own merits, I am sure Solo is a generic movie. But Star Wars isn't supposed to be generic. For the amount it cost to make, Solo really is a failure and represents the death of star wars in many ways.

Entertainment without the weird, dumb agenda shoved into your face. Solo seems like it did that more and TLJ definitely didn't create more enthusiasm for these movies.

I actually think if Hollyweird pulled its lazy head out of its lazy ass and made a solid female character with some depth, they'd do just fine.

That was somewhat my point, is that the SJW stuff that was in the movie itself, wasn't super forced and front and center. It worked for what it was and was more than tolerable. Add in a white male actor lead (which is why apparently one of many reasons why Soylo failed hard) and everyone who was involved in the movie not insulting their fanbase = successful movie and a lot of profit.

Also, they removed a LGBTQ scene from Jurassic World because they deemed it unnecessary, which it completely was.
